Think

I can’t think today.
Or maybe the problem is that I can think,
Just not in the way I’m expected to!
Yes, that’s it!
So I can think after all.
But is it a blessing or
– I don’t believe in curses, do I?
Now there’s a thought for another think!

Today’s prompt was to write a san san, an 8-line poem that is beautiful because it repeats 3 images. I wanted to, but couldn’t wrap my head around it! No excuses, just wasn’t happening. So we have this, an 8-line poem, maybe not of great beauty, but of some truth and humor! Add this to my other
NaPoWriMo pieces. 🙂

Fortune Cookies

Oh so carefully
I broke in two
And removed the slip of paper
From each one of
13 cookies
Only to read and discard the paper
Because the fortune was bad.
13
13
13
I won’t write it 10 more times
You probably know how to count
Unfortunately, I feel disappointed
Bereft
Betrayed.
But wait!
Cookies are cookies
And Miss Fortune takes her turn at life
As much as anyone else
With ups and downs
And ins and outs
And sideways and up-side-down
So who am I to judge?
Fortune may be fickle
But cookies?
Let’s just say
I wouldn’t have made it to 13
If I didn’t like them!
So on second thought
Maybe the fortune
Is not too bad!

From today’s prompt for
NaPoWriMo.

I Know

I know the Spirit is within me.
I know I live beyond this lifetime.
I know the Truth sets me free.
I know that God is all there is.
I know separation is illusion.
I know that Love is real.
I know that for all I know,
I know nothing,
And unless I examine my life
And improve from within,
I know that life is not worth living!

This one is unprompted, for
NaPoWriMo,
with 18 days left!

Inspired by:
“For all I know, I know nothing if I cannot demonstrate a better life.”

Cup of Coffee

A chip in the handle
Reminds me it’s mine
Hot coffee that burbles
To fill the inside

The cup is a big one
To counter the sleep
Or lack thereof
That I just received

And caffeine is given
So freely it seems
Bears dance in the picture
A circus of dreams

I cling to the handle
Embracing my hand
And wonder what wonders
Are mine to command

But holding the cup
Is all I can stand.

From day 10 prompt at
napowrimo.net,
a poem describing a place or object, with a last line – or 2 in this case – seemingly unrelated to the rest of the poem.

The rest of my NaPoWriMo work is
here.

Thanks for reading!

The Strongest Ties

Even the strongest ties
Can be cut,
Torn,
Or simply untied

The heaviest shackles
Broken,
Unlinked,
Unlocked and released

The deepest despair
Is lifted,
Shifted,
Lightened and brightened

Not by force and fear,
But by faith and freedom;
Not by will and work,
But by wisdom and worth

By action following inspiration
And inspiration flowing from
Inner strength

The still, small voice is speaking
And you can’t hear it through the rattling shackles
Or feel it through the binding ties

But you can know it,
Follow it inward
Despite them

And one day as if by magic,
You are fresh and free,
Unshackled and unbound

As you have been
From the beginning:
But now you know!

Unprompted, this is day 10 of
NaPoWriMo!

Feed Your Body and Mind

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

Refrain:
Feed and nourish your body.
Sow good seed in your mind.
Water and nurture the Spirit
That gives your being life.
You’re a tree of plenty,
The only one of your kind.
So live a fruitful lifetime,
And feed your body and mind.

1. Give your body the food and sleep
And comfort that you really need.
The Spirit deep inside will show you what and when and how.
Let your body be itself,
Don’t push too hard and take its health,
‘Cause every single cell is precious! Start your living now!
And
Refrain:

2. Give your mind some quiet time
And thinking that will help it thrive.
The Spirit deep inside will show you who and why and where.
Let your mind imagine things,
The best that you could ever be,
And paint your brightest mental picture! Take a risk and dare!
And
Refrain:

3. Plant your roots within the Truth,
And let that Essence flow through you.
The Spirit deep inside will show you all you need to know.
Let each person on their path,
And stay on yours, remember that.
And let the love and light and laughter blossom as you go!
And
Refrain:

Live a fruitful lifetime,
And feed, feed your body and mind.

Breathe – Meditation Song

One Less Enabler

It’s over. I won’t enable you anymore.

There. I said it.
You don’t understand it, but I said it.
And what’s more, I meant it.

Now you can feel as you will, because you will.
And I am not uncaring –
I’m sorry you don’t understand.
I’m sorry you feel the way you do.
But that doesn’t change the fact that
It’s over, and I won’t enable you anymore.

See? I still remain, living, breathing, thinking,
Even though,
Or because?
I finally stood up
To proclaim:

It’s over! I won’t enable you anymore!
Now there’s one les enabler in the world.

Today’s prompt was to write a poem containing a line you’re afraid to write. Well, there it is! And if this is you, take heart! You are not the first, and you won’t be the last to say this! May you, too, have the courage to say it when the time comes, and to still remain kind, but firm! You don’t need to be someone’s doormat to respond positively and spiritually! Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can say is, “no.”

Tritina

Before we came together, we were one.
But in my disconnect, I noticed two
And lost perception of the you in me.

I heard your voice and looked outside of me.
The loudness of the many drowned the one.
Without the inner silence, there were two.

In every life duality means two.
No different was the fighting duel in me.
In stillness I can recognize the one.

I know the one through me perceiving two.

From yesterday’s prompt at
NaPoWriMo,
a Tritina.

Heart

I have a heart
Somewhere in there,
My guarded part
That shares and cares.
Or so it would
If I let it go,
But I keep on telling
My poor heart no!

I have the passion
Of fire inside.
And I keep it rationed,
Denied desire.
O how it would blaze
If I let it go,
But I keep on telling
My poor heart no!

I have a love
That grows and flows,
Beyond and above,
Around and below.
Love is the Power
To let it all go
So I can stop telling
My poor heart no!

And I proclaim yes
To my heart and soul!

Treatment for Love

Six Days

And on the 7th day God rested?
Really?
Does the Universe need a rest?
If I dared to have an opinion,
It is doubt.

I highly doubt
God needs a rest.
If God rests,
If the Universe rests,
Then vibration, creation, movement, evolution
Stop!
On the dime so to speak.

And knock on wood –
The Universe is still going!

So, in my very humble opinion,
God did not rest after 6 days.

He looked at all the creations,
Contemplated them,
Truly saw them, every one!
And He said:
I am there
And there
And in that thing
And over there
And here too
And everywhere!
And it is good!

Contemplation –
Knowing something,
Knowing yourself in something,
And knowing you know,
Deep and gentle,
Still and quiet,
Just knowing…

And so God knew Himself
To be in each creation
And knew one creation
To be His own likeness,
So it could contemplate itself
And God within itself.

That last creation,
That contemplative, creative creation
Is His Child of Light –
YOU!

Now,
Contemplate that!
