A colonnade, oasis, place to rest
From Summer heat, a visitor obsessed.
It hasn’t been here long but plans to stay
Until the Autumn sighs with cooler days.
Awating temperature’s more temperate fall,
I make this colonnade my port of call!

This one follows Walter’s prompt at
dVerse,
inspired by this line from T.S. Eliot’s “The Waste Land”:
“With a shower of rain; we stopped in the colonnade (…)”
But a Summer Colonnade sounds like a dance to me! Or a refreshing drink!
Drink sounds a good idea, lovely reflective poem Doc.
Great take on the prompt, Crystal!
Crazy about this:
“Until the Autumn sighs with cooler days.”
Our Autumns are hell (almost literally), but I feel this, deeply.
Love the way you have used Eliot’s colonnade your refuge.
It hasnโt been here long but plans to stay
Until the Autumn sighs with cooler days.
Beautiful lines..! ๐
I always keep in the shade, so your colonnade will do me just fine.
Lovely. I do enjoy the opportunity for shade.
I too am a shade dweller. The colonnade of Eliot is perfect.
Love the flow and rhyme…and I think a “colonnade” sounds like a fancy lemonade. ๐
Agree! ๐
Finally getting to my reading and enjoying! ๐ Yes — I’ll take a Colonnade please — so appropriate for the dVerse bar! ๐ Enjoyed this one.
On the other hand, I’ll stand in the shade neath the colonnade, with my colonnade in hand! ๐
