Blue Vibrations

Blue is my favorite color,
Though I really can’t say why.

I’ve never seen the ocean,
The flowers or the sky,
The hue of sweetest berries,
Or my child’s sparkling eyes.

But blue’s my favorite color,
And maybe I know why:

The peace of its vibration,
The healing it provides,
The grace so all-embracing,
A deeper touch than sight.

O blue’s my favorite color,
A blessing of the Light!

Bryan’s “Awaken us to the Blue,”
this poem didn’t come immediately. I do love blue and always have. But no, I’ve never seen it. So, that got me wondering how I can say it’s my favorite color. Here you go,

  1. This is simply beautiful. I love the rhyme. These lines are fantastic:
    “The grace so all-embracing,
    A deeper touch than sight.”

I did not know this of you, but assume you cannot see? There is such beauty here, such a deeper sense. Blue as a feeling, a sound, a place. I am deeply touched by this piece. THANK YOU.

  2. Oh how the words “my child’s sparkling eyes” tore at my heart. But I don’t feel sorry for you. I just wish you could see blue! This is a gorgeous poem and makes me appreciate you all the more.

  3. That’s really cool! Blue is actually a vibration, I just don’t usually think of it that way, the electromagnetic spectrum and all that. But you made it seem so alive. Thank you!

  4. This takes us beyond the sense of sight well into other realms of knowingness on deeper levels…right up my alley. At first I wondered if you may be color blind which is not so uncommon but then I saw your message to De explaining your blindness. I love that blue is your favorite color even though you haven’t seen it! A beautiful verse, Crystal.

  5. Despite your afflictions, your “vision” is exceptional. The tag line for my blog, Through the Eyes of a Poet’s Heart, is “My heart envisions what my eyes refuse to see!” You have a wonderful and expressive heart, Crystal!
