I love the idea of a “shadow of brighter days” — allowing the shadow to be a good thing, perhaps casting light on the past. Love this.
After reading the tags, I reread the poem with such a greater understanding. I rely on journaling.

Fate seems to be the choice I’ve made. A lot of little choices along the way lead to others, but they are choices nonetheless not the effects of some other cause or randomness.
