Photos so neatly arranged in albums
tell the story we want to remember
of life, of love, of laughter…
The problem is:
the photos are staged.
“Now look here!”
“Smile!”
“Say cheese!”
“Stop pinching your brother!”
“Don’t make bunny ears behind your sister’s head!”
Staged, I tell you,
more than a play ever was,
is,
or will be.
Because after all,
photos do not tell the truth,
no matter how consciously arranged.
They only tell
the story we want to remember.

I love this take on the prompt. And SO true.
Oh, this is so true!
So very true! The bunny ears or devil’s horns, depending upon the persons involved. Mine by my two aunts were always deil horns. I didn’t have a bunny within me! I do like your take on this prompt…the arrangement of pics in a scrapbook. Truly what we want to remember.
Yes, the staged ones are the memories we want to keep ~ The candid ones are fun though and tell the stories in livelier shades ~ Thanks for joining us ~
Indeed, although I sometimes wish we wouldn’t concentrate so much on posing as need be.. lovely take on the prompt 💖
Lots of love,

oh. such deep thoughts. and yes, photos are sometimes staged. that’s why photographers are now fond of candid shots. 🙂
alas, we do prefer to polish and arrange the past. Do we still remember how it was.
And of course the stage-managed nature of sharing those pictures now via social media – even more of an ‘arrangement’ of life. Original take on the prompt, well done!
This is so true! And I watch my daughter and her friends take so many photographs of themselves, all staged – and they all believe that everybody else is telling a true story.
Great take on the prompt. And if photos don’t contain the images we are wanting to remember, we throw them out.
