“It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for,”*
No matter what you say.
You’re lookin’ for an actor’s part
I’m not equipped to play.
“It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for”
In everything you do.
You’re lookin’ for distractions brief
TO fill the void in you.
“It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for,”
Despite your whirling mind.
You’re lookin’ for the brilliant Light:
Your soul’s eternal shine!

“It Ain’t Me Babe” by Bob Dylan.

It ain’t me babe…love your take on this prompt.
These are lines I want to hold on to:
Despite your whirling mind.
You’re lookin’ for the Light and more
That shines in you each day!
One of my greater struggles is my monkey mind–but I guess I’ll just keep trying to rein her in.
We sure do tend to heap a lot on our partners to be the perfect one when really we each need to fill that void in ourselves first.
Excellent!
This just begs to be sung… and you are right, so many people are searching for themselves.
Unfortunately, we all have expectations, whether we’re aware of them or not. It takes a lot of experience to recognise that and a lot of humble pie to accept it.
soul’s eternal shine… sigh… gorgeous! ❤️
Oh my, I do know the void so well. It’s been a long road to find the light.
so succinctly told and cleverly subtitled message to the unenlightened
I always loved this Dylan song. I especially like the idea expressed in your words here, do not look for something in me to complete you. In other words, I am me and you are you. You must accept me as I am and we can be together – I can never be thT sliver that completes your actual being.
