He asked me,
“Will you join me
in the garden?”
In turning my head,
I turned away.
He asked me,
“Will you help me
in the garden?”
And my inaction
was action enough.
He asked me,
“Are you peaceful
in the garden?”
And the light of truth
lit up my mind.
He asked me,
“Are you happy
in the garden?”
And without question,
I knew I wouldn’t be without.
I asked him,
“May I join you
in the garden?”
The scene changed
When I saw the change in me.
I asked him,
“May I help you
in the garden?”
As the seasons pass,
may I pass on the harvest!
I ask you,
“Will you join me
in the garden?”
For the whole of Life
is whole in you!

OLN is a fabulous free-for-all (i.e. there’s no set prompt). So stop by and read and/or share one poem of your own! You never know what gems you’ll discover here!
The progression from the first flirt into a forever…. what a great image a garden can be… yes and in the end there is a harvest.
I love this and I had to think of ‘The Enlightened Gardener’ by Sydney Banks as I was reading.
I love this poem! So full of spiritual and forever themes. The last stanza says it all.
love the maturity in the realization that joy is greater when we do not simply enjoy the fruits of another’s labour, but labour alongside.
“The scene changed
When I saw the change in me.”
The turning point of the poem and of life. Well penned.
A musical dance in the Garden.
Lovely! You have turned my own head with this poem.
I agree with Margaret…. and it is a wonderful poem
I agree with Margaret too. The change within made a profound shift in a life…so beautifully put.
I see the garden as Eden.
We each have our different view of what Eden is and once we accept this, we are nourished.
Kind regards
