My face is not made up,
but is bright, expressive, and usually smiling.
My hair isn’t fancy,
but soft, thick, and dare I say attractive?
My voice is the best,
steady and warm,
but the question is…
How does it hide
the scars inside?

A Quadrille in response to De’s “scar” prompt at
dVerse.
I believe the deepest scars are invisible, and that’s why they are scars–because we don’t like to acknowledge them.
We all have them, for sure. Some worn on the outside, some inside. This is a wonderful piece, Crystal.
So often those scars are carried inside… to see them requires a certain eye, or a way to listen maybe…
Oh yes, scars are hard to hide, especially those inside. My modus is just to own, to flaunt them, joyful that survival trumps beauty, & perfection is illusion & folly.
We often hide our mental scars, but I have learned that true connection to others comes when we let them show.
Lovely writing and a poignant question. I mined a similar vein.
We try to hide our scars by not talking about them which might be for the best, but I suspect those closest to us are empathetic enough to imagine them.
A beautiful quadrille and those warm steady voices often carry the timber of empathy and wisdom from what they have been through themselves.
Well done. A question many of us ask ourselves
And that is the big question indeed..
Good question~ Maybe it doesn’t hide it if one looks too closely ~
