Good soldiers in His company
To fight the battles, big and small,

Miracle of You

Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
–Matthew 17:19-20 (KJV)

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
–Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV)

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.”
–Helen Keller

1. I don’t have to touch you
To know that you are near.
The strength within your Spirit
Takes away my fear.
I don’t have to look for you
Or ask where you might be,
‘Cause I feel it in your blessings
Always reaching out to me.
Refrain:

2. I don’t have to see you
To know that we are one.
The light within your Spirit
Fills my heart with sun.
And I don’t have to look at you
To recognize your face,
‘Cause I feel it in the kindness
Of your mercy, love, and grace.
Refrain:

3. And I don’t have to speak
To know you hear my prayer.
The peace within your Spirit
Shows your tender care.
And I don’t have to look to you,
Because you live in me.
And I feel it in your presence
Of the truth that sets me free.
Refrain:

That’s the miracle of you.
That’s the miracle, miracle of you.

Refrain:
And the faith I place in you
Is the miracle you prove.
‘Cause when I ask for more,
You open every door.
And the glass is never empty,
Shattered, broken on the floor.
There’s another little bit,
And I take hold of it.
That’s the miracle of you.

Listen for the sound of an African grey parrot in this recording. 🙂

1. Every day I wake up breathing,
Thinking, knowing, hoping, being,
Every day I wake up me is good, so good.
Every moment I am living,
Praying, moving, doing, giving,
Every moment I’m believing in Your presence, Lord,
‘Cause it’s only in Your presence that I could.
Refrain:

2. Every day I wake up growing,
Seeking, feeling, healing, showing,
Every day I wake up Yours is good, so good.
Every moment I am learning,
Finding, seeing, freeing, turning,
Every moment I’m receiving in Your presence, Lord,
‘Cause it’s only in Your presence that I could.
Refrain: (2x)

Lord, it’s only in Your presence that I could.
It’s only in Your presence that I could.
Lord, it’s only in Your presence that I could.

Refrain:
O I know I couldn’t live without Your love,
And without the breath of inspiration sent from up above,
Your gentle peace and strength,
And Your amazing grace.
I need Your life to make mine any good,
‘Cause it’s only in Your presence that I could.

Did They Pray? (Shepherd Song)

If you received this post by email, click the URL to hear this song.

Advent 2017 week 4.

On this Christmas Eve, I offer a song about the shepherds. The Good News was not brought to government officials, rich people, or anyone in power. It was brought to simple, humble folks who in faith, believed what they heard. May we be as the shepherds, not only believing the tidings of Christ’s birth, but truly taking them to heart and living each day for God’s glory. I wish you a blessed Christmas celebration and a joy-full New Year made possible by the Spirit within you!

Luke 2:8-20 (KJV)

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Did They Pray? (Shepherd Song) – Lyrics

1. The shepherds heard the good news first.
Why do you think that could be?
Late at night with the moon for light,
Watching over their sheep,
Did they pray? (4x)

2. The angel came, and so afraid,
The shepherds wondered why.
But Christ the Lord, this day is born,
The Savior of mankind.
Did they pray? (4x)

3. When they heard the joyous word,
They believed what it said.
And making haste to Christ’s birthplace,
They found His manger bed.
Did they pray? (4x)

4. Now we have known and heard and shown
The glory of our God.
So with that sweet humility,
Let us take the path the shepherds trod.
Let us pray. (8x)

For Aaron.

Advent 2017 week 2.

1. I heard a baby’s laughter as a child;
I wondered why it made my heart so light.
But as I grew I came to realize,
A baby is an angel come to life.
Refrain:

2. I had a little baby of my own,
So humbled by the miracle of birth.
But he was more than just my precious son,
An angel sent to teach me love on earth.
Refrain:

3. Another living, tender baby boy
Who came to us so many years ago
Still fills our open hearts with peace and joy;
He warms this world that suffers in the cold.
Refrain:

OOO keep our Savior cradled in your heart (2x).

Refrain:
That little ray of hope and faith,
Of purity and love,
The joy that nothing can replace,
A blessing from above.
No matter what the future holds,
The present is the start,
So keep this baby cradled in your heart.

Welcome to this Advent season! This song is about the mystical star that lights our path from within, each and every day.

1. The dark of night surrounded me.
No dawn would come to set me free
Until my Spirit found the key
That lights my way to you.
Refrain:

2. A soul in torment, stress and pain
Can find the strength to love again.
For burning brightly is a flame
That lights my way to you.
Refrain:

3. For every person everywhere,
There’s love enough in Christ who cares.
He lived and died, our cross to bear
And lights my way to you.
Refrain:

God lights my way to you.

Refrain:
A blazing star that shows the way,
It makes the night as bright as day.
It puts the pathway on display
And lights my way to you.
It lights my way to you.

Great, Full (Give Thanks)

If you received this post by email, click the URL to hear this song.

Not your traditional Thanksgiving song, this one is simple–a timely reminder for our fast-paced society. Happy Thanksgiving, at the holidays and always!

1. We wake up each day without thinking,
Except to take the stock of stress and strain.
We get up and go without blinking,
And we miss all the good we have to gain.
And something in our lives has got to change.
Refrain:

2. We move all the time without feeling,
But letting loose a litany of pain.
We curse and complain without healing,
Despite the cleansing comfort of the rain.
And something in our lives has got to change.
Refrain:

3. We breathe and receive God in Spirit.
So let us not forget to praise His name.
His wisdom and Word, we can hear it
When we take the time to go within and pray.
‘Cause He promises to never, ever change.
Refrain:

Give thanks.

Refrain:
Let’s have a great, full heart
And a great, full mind
With a great, full body
Praising God’s design.
And give thanks.
Give thanks.

This song with Celtic flavor is inspired by the Claddagh (see below) and Samhain, the Celtic New Year and beginning of Winter. We still celebrate this festival as Halloween on October 31.

I gave my friendship gratefully;
It blossomed as you cherished me.

And love came softly to my heart;
We blended from the very start.

My loyalty I promised you
In faithful trust and honest truth.

I thank our Lord and God above
For friendship, loyalty and love.

For only God could ever plan
The joining of our hearts and hands.

With Oneness brought to you and me,
We’re blessed beyond our sweetest dreams.

We live for all eternity
In friendship, love and loyalty.
