Love is so easy!
Just stop thinking about it,
And expect nothing…

Carefree
He thought our relationship
would be carefree.
Naively so,
for he is not me!

Newly Wed Blues
I can’t tell you how hard it seems,
This newly “wedded bliss.”
Depression takes the place of dreams.
Already come to this?
I give Me up and put Me out;
I wrap myself in you.
But losing Me, without a doubt
I never want to do.
I can’t go out or anywhere,
Unless you’re there with me.
I have so many things to share
With others, can’t you see?
You pledge your faith; you speak of trust.
But you don’t seem to know.
For me this love will turn to dust
If you don’t let me go!

The Magic of Music: One Universal Melody
The Magic of Music: One Universal Melody
by Frederick Douglass Grimes, III
With all of life’s trouble and turmoil in the world today,
It’s always nice to know, music can help take the pain away.
Music often times is so soothing to one’s ear,
Sensuous melodies, simple harmonies for all to hear.
Music will gently rock a baby to sleep with a sweet lullaby.
A song filled with memories will most certainly make us cry.
That spirited power of song arrangements composed so neatly,
The feeling that overcomes you is beyond your control.
It fills the heart with such joy
And eases one’s mind ever so sweetly.
Couples go out on a date;
Dinner, wine, and much food.
He brings her home and places on a song to set the mood.
Years down the line, after two people meet,
They still remember their first song
That had them dancing to the beat.
Music truly is universal in each and every land.
Music is eternal;
Strike up the band!

What Peace Means to Me
A morning cup of coffee,
Hot and strong and sweet.
A comfy pair of jeans
With sneakers on my feet.
Thanking my Creator
Before I start this day.
Affirming I can make it through
When things don’t go my way.
A hug, a laugh, a smile
From one who understands
That it’s OK to deviate
From all our best laid plans.
Just knowing that the hard times
Cannot last too long.
And hearing unexpectedly
A joke, a poem, a song.
Peace is doing better
Than I did the day before.
It’s never all the big things,
But the small that mean much more.

Dreadful Droplets
Fred could tell when his wife woke up that morning that something was terribly wrong.
“How did you sleep?” he asked.
She responded with a grumble.
“Are you in pain?” he tried.
Her reply was a grunt.
“Is something bothering you?”
She merely growled. If only he could read her mind – but then again, he surely would regret it if he could.
“Can I help?” he posed one final question.
“Yes!” she exploded. “You can put more than droplets in my coffee cup!”

Torch
O Torch is a Rabbit bar none,
For even in shows he has won.
But the best part, I thought
Is the joy Torch has brought
To the life of young Aaron, my son!

Parents
As a tiny preemie,
I was very sick;
Hospital existence,
A devastating trick.
Adopted shortly after,
I wondered about them;
They answered in abundance
When I took sick again.
My parents wrote a letter
To my first mom and dad,
Determining the reason
My health became so bad.
A glacial cold responded..;
Briefly hurt and sad,
Now I’m forever grateful
For the folks I never had!

Raining Change
It doesn’t really matter what I think about the past,
Or if my thoughts and words and actions hurt me looking back.
For only with a downpour, not a shower or a drizzle,
Can the tears within my heart bring on a change more than a little.
‘Cause the past is done and over, and the present is right now.
All the healing that I’m seeking, I can find by asking how.
When I’m living by the answer, it’s real changes that will last,
So the only thing that matters is to let the past be past!

Farmer’s Market Visit
The coffee lady knows me;
The produce man says hi.
The barber does my haircut
And then gives me a pie.
The train guy lets me stand there
In awe just like my son,
And don’t forget fried veggies
We buy before we’re done.
The farmer’s market animals,
The cuddly goats and sheep,
Are my most favorite things,
But now it’s time to eat!
The burgers and the French fries,
A heart attack for sure,
But it’s good, and a bargain,
So I can’t ask for more!
The coffee lady knows me;
The produce man says hi.
The barber does my haircut
And then gives me a pie.
