Springtime Angel

A heartfelt poem by my husband, whom the Lord sent to make my dreams of love come true! It was not quite Spring when we got married, but it was a beautiful day, including a rainbow! –C. G.

Springtime Angel

by Frederick Douglass Grimes, III

She stole my heart like a thief In the night,
Both of us without any earthly sight.

She had a plan right from the start.
Together we vowed never to part.

The Light of the Lord guides us each day.
Together forever we promised to stay.

And so we set our wedding date
And made sure we would not be late.

Standing at the alter before the Lord and the world,
Nervous energy throughout our beings swirled.

Commitments were made as worshippers cheered.
With God’s precious blessings we have no fear.

We begin our journey as man and wife,
In friendship, Love, and loyalty for the rest of our lives.

The Easter Season: A Time for Reflection

The Easter Season: A Time for Reflection

by Frederick Douglass Grimes, III.

Blessings to all of God’s children. One more day that the Lord has truly blessed us with, this being Palm Sunday. Here we are merely one Sunday away from the holy day of Easter, or as some choose to refer to as Resurrection Sunday. It doesn’t matter what reference you choose, as long as we are aware of its meaning.

Palm Sunday is the day when all the worshippers of Jesus greeted Him with cloths and palms of reverence and respect, as He was coming to Jerusalem. He humbly rode in on the least of the animals, a donkey. Jesus has always tried to teach us so many lessons in life to take full advantage of, such as Him riding in on a donkey, the least of these animals, that one would not begin to compare to this holy man of God. But that act in and of itself should be a constant reminder to us all not to ever look at the least of anything or anyone.

Jesus also taught us to love one another, not just some of us, but all of us. No matter what color, race, creed, or sexual orientation. None of us is any better than anyone else because we all are made in the likeness of our Lord. But sadly in this troubled world of ours, there are and most likely will remain narrow minded people who refuse to see the Light, even when it’s shining so brightly it could blind you.

For me, being totally blind for almost 20 years, I feel truly blessed each and every day of my life. For one, that the good Lord in all of His grace and mercy chooses to wake me each and every day. Secondly, that I was also blessed enough to be raised by good and decent parents that taught me to love one another in every sense of the word. We as God’s children should be able to love whomever we choose, no matter what anyone thinks, because we have to live our lives for ourselves, and not for anyone else. And when we go before the Almighty, we definitely will stand alone and won’t have anyone to speak for us but ourselves. When the Lord asks, did we love one another to the best of our abilities? What will be our final answer?

The Easter season should also be a time to really reflect on just how much the Lord truly loves all of his children. After all, He sent His only begotten son to make the ultimate sacrifice that not many of us would dare to give. All because He loved us so much that He gave His own life for us. How many of us can honestly say we would do the same?

Now for me personally the Lord has blessed me with an angel named Crystal, whom I without any hesitation would give my life, and I honestly without a shadow of any doubt know that she would do the same. smile. But that’s a story for another day. I just hope and pray that each and every one of God’s precious children will one day find their soul mate for life as I have, and also take heed to all Of the lessons that Jesus has so profoundly taught us. It’s never too late to receive one of God’s memos. Smile.

May the love and mercy of the Lord grant us peace within our souls and keep us all safe from harm. Amen.

Sincerely,

The Blind Poet, Freddy G.

The Sounds and Smells of Spring

The Sounds and Smells of Spring

by Frederick Douglass Grimes, III

Seasons change;
thoughts rearrange.
Spring smiles come bursting through!

winter finally is laid to rest
until next year.
Oh happy day! Spring has sprung!

Old Man Winter
has taken a heartfelt hike.
Time to pull out the family bike!

Birdies are singing;
ice cream bells certainly are ringing!
These are the sounds of Spring!

Leaves are crunching;
everyone’s munching
tasty treats to make your mouth water…

The smell of funnel cakes
on trips to the neighborhood parks
folks will make.

These are the smells of Spring!
The air is filled
with a variety of aromas…

Everything from hot dogs coming from the neighborhood vender
to the bakery down the street
teasing you with the breathtaking smell of freshly baked goods!

Time to put up all of last winters gear,
and hopefully if the Winter didn’t help you gain a few pounds,
pull out the tank tops and shorts.

Some of us
might have to give Jenny a call,
but that’s ok

Because It sure feels good
to finally wake up
from the Winter’s slumber…

And smell the fresh air
and hear
the sounds of Spring!

Wishing all a blessed and most beautiful Spring season!
May God bless us all!

Mother’s Day Thoughts and Blessings

Mother’s Day Thoughts and Blessing’s

by Frederick Douglass Grimes, III

Love and Peace to all of God’s children. With only four day’s until that special day we call Mother’s Day, I feel compelled to express my thought’s somehow. As far back as any of us can remember, there have always been Mother’s, most notably Mary Mother of Jesus. Now I would Imagine there are few Mother’s of this world who could come close to the mother of Jesus. But in any event, they still deserve our utmost respect and reverence.

For one, they are the one’s who brought us In to this world. Many children of the world are raised by adoptive parent’s, who most times do a much better job than the real one’s. But no child Is expected to be able to determine who their parent’s are, only hope and pray that they love us and hopefully are able to perform the task that they decided to bring upon themselves by either having us or taking us In.

Mother’s Day is by far one of the most respected day’s of the year, and rightfully so. Some of us are blessed enough to have Mother’s who make incredible sacrifices. But sad to say there are some who totally forget the meaning of the title mother. There are many reasons for this sad state of occurrences. But none of them can be blamed on the child, because he or she did not ask to be brought In to this world. There are also children and adults Who sad to say, through no fault of their own, have Mother’s, fathers, and also grandparents who don’t even recognize their own children or grandchildren due to many diseases. These are problems of the world that we have no control over, and only God has the answers.

What determines a good and decent child of God Is a person who can somehow rise above parents such as our mothers who might not treat us with the love, care, and respect that we certainly deserve. Being a true child of the Lord, not just In name only, we show our mother’s and whoever else the love and respect they deserve. At the end of the day, it makes us better human beings.

To all of those mothers who somehow cannot be with their children, because of circumstances that are out of their control, remember one thing. The Lord put mothers on this earth for a reason, and no child ever forgets to love their mothers, even If not with them In the human sense. But there Is and always will be a spiritual bond between them that will never be broken. Only the good Lord knows our future.

God bless all of the Mother’s of the world! And a very blessed happy Mother’s Day!

Sincerely,

The Blind Poet, Freddy G.

An Angel Named Crystal

God has sent an angel.
She’s with me every day.
God has sent an angel.
All I have to do is pray.
I feel her tears.
And she feels mine.
Now forevermore our lives are intertwined.
Two souls that have blended from the very start.
Forevermore our spirits shall never part.

Poems and Poetry: A Blind Man’s Thoughts

by Frederick Douglass Grimes, III

What Is the true definition of a poem? It has many meanings to many different people. It can be a special way to express one’s deepest and most heartfelt feelings for another. It can also be a way to unburden oneself from life’s stressful moments.

When you combine the heart and the mind together, what you have Is a recipe for whatever you feel is on your mind. Poems are also one of life’s most beautiful ways to tell someone how much you deeply care and can’t come up with the courage to do so.

Poetry Is as much a part of life as water and sunshine are to a flower. How sad this world of ours would be If not for the raw, pure, emotional art form we call poetry!

God Bless all of the poets, past and present of the world. And may God bless us all.

Sincerely,

The Blind Poet, Freddy G.

Smiles: What the World Needs More Of

Smilemaker Lyrics

Smiles: What the World Needs More Of

by Frederick Douglass Grimes, III

Blessings to all of Gods children. The definition of a smile is, “An expression of the face that shows pleasure or amusement,” a show of joy so to speak. Other terms are a smirk or grin. But a smile Is never defined as a frown or any other show of sadness or displeasure.

I have always heard that It takes more face muscles to frown than to smile. Growing up I remember this song that goes, “When you’re smiling the whole world smiles with you,” and I believe that to be true. In a world of turmoil and confusion, smiles are needed now more than ever before.

One of my favorite groups Is one that calls themselves Earth Wind and Fire, the elements of the universe. In one of their songs, there’s a verse that says, “Every time you smile you bless a child.” I have always thought those words to be so profound. One reason Is simply this. Think about this for a minute. Any time you greet a child, the first thing you do Is smile. To any child that means you are a friend and someone they can trust, who will show them love and friendship.

As adults some people learn that a smile Is not always as It seems. For a blind person any time we greet someone, After a while we can Instantly feel the presence of a genuine smile compared to a fake one. I honestly believe the good Lord has truly blessed us with a sixth sense of some kind to make up for what we have lost. To me It’s just another one of the Lords many blessings to us all. For myself personally, I make It a habit of smiling each and every day that the Lord above has made It possible for me to make It thru the night. And see the world with spiritual sight, which Is much more of a true blessing than human sight.

Smile every day, for we always have something to smile about. May God bless us all.

β€œWhen a relationship stops working, it usually means that someone has grown.
Someone is now ready to receive more and have more than the relationship offers.
Someone is ready to be loved, honored, and treated the way they really want to be treated. Could that someone be you?”
