Doctorate Received!

Boom! Yesterday I got a big envelope in the mail. I have to scan mail or ask someone to read it, but I know what comes in a huge envelope backed by a piece of cardboard…

My doctoral diploma in Metaphysical Science (Msc.D.) from the University of Metaphysics! Cheers!

The dissertation, “Breathing and Voicework in Metaphysical Practice,” was a lot of work, but a natural topic for me. Making sure the physical voice, and any sound we make, is authentic, is very important to me personally. Many practices can be involved, but they all lead to the same thing – experiencing God-within and radiating that Oneness outward. The research and practice was fun and enlightening!

Along with the journaling practices from my masters thesis, I offer voicework as well. Local workshops are upcoming, and individual sessions are available, in person and online. I’ll be updating Mystical Strings with these offerings, options, and prices soon.

This is not an ending, but the turning of a page. The degree is an accomplishment. I affirm that I cooperate with God’s Power working through me to fulfill the divine purpose of my soul in this and any moment.

To everyone who has, does, or will ever encounter the work I’m blessed to co-create, I give my heart-felt thanks! I am here, this work is here, to draw us inward to the God of our being, Source of all creations!

Thank you, Namaste!

And so it is!

Celebrating Dr. Paul Leon Masters

The voice of inspiration is expressed strongly through some people. It may not be loud – well, maybe occasionally – but Truth makes ready souls with ears to hear, sit up and pay attention.

For more than half a century, Dr. Masters was conscious, aware, and connected enough to share this divine, inspired voice with his students and the public alike. As Founder of International Metaphysical Ministry and its University System, Dr. Masters blazed the trail for mystics and Metaphysicians all over the world. Some of us practice traditionally, as ministers with church buildings and congregations. Others, like myself, practice less traditionally, have no physical church and instead let inspiration flow from the church-within, through music, art, writing, athletics, television acting, and a myriad of other careers, hobbies, and vocations. No matter the shape of our practice, cultural background, religious beliefs, or other personal attributes, Dr. Masters paved the way and founded the organization that would grant us ordination and degrees, in short, so that we are recognized and respected for our accumulated knowledge, research, works, and ministries.

The International Metaphysical Ministry, University of Metaphysics, and University of Sedona carry on, as Dr. Masters desired, and continue his inspired legacy of Metaphysical teachings. We may take time to mourn his physical passing. But let us take more time to thank the God-Presence, Infinite and Eternal, that inspires and expresses in each of us. May each of us who feel a calling, answer it with as much dedication, commitment, and God-centered Love as Dr. Masters did throughout his lifetime!

Blessings and gratitude to the staff, graduates, students, and all who resonate with Metaphysical ministry in all its forms! Thank you for your service and continued commitment to the Ministry Dr. Masters brought us, that it may serve its purpose and be a positive influence in many more lives! And that each student and graduate, past, present, and potential, may carry the Light of Truth in his or her heart and practice by the Grace of God and indwelling of Christ Consciousness and the Holy Spirit – Holy Breath – that animates every soul!

And so it is!

Remembering Nancy Abercrombie

A spiritually aware, bright, and talented musician, Nancy Abercrombie recently passed on from this world. She contributed positive, inspirational music to the world and to New Thought Metaphysics in particular. She has been, and will continue to be an inspiration to me personally. Though I never met Nancy in person, I’ve felt her soul through the music she wrote and recorded over her many years of study and service in the Metaphysical field. She will be missed, but lives on in the Love, Spirit and Soul of her music and every life touched by the Presence of God within her.

May God’s blessings and peace be upon all those mourning her passing, and may the Light of the eternal flame burn brightly on this, and every soul’s continuing journey!

Happy Easter….Mary Magdalene, go tell my brothers I go up!

She, Mary Magdalene and every woman, is the Holy Spirit, or Holy Breath, that carries the Light to all! Not because of her gender, but Her mystical, spiritual awareness. Both men and women can be either aware or unaware. However, I believe souls incarnate as women because they have something specific to carry and birth in this lifetime. Their purpose dictates their gender, and not the other way around. Yet for women raised traditionally and now overcoming gender stereotypes, it can be a comfort to know that we, too, bring Good News to others.

“Mary Magdalene…….

Thou, sharing in the awful doom,
Didst help thy Lord to die;
Then, weeping o’er his empty tomb,
Didst hear him Mary cry.

He stands in haste; he cannot stop;
Home to his God he fares:
‘Go tell my brothers I go up
To my Father, mine and theirs.’

Run, Mary! lift thy heavenly voice;
Cry, cry, and heed not how;
Make all the new-risen world rejoice-
Its first apostle thou!”

“The calm within the storm is where peace lives and breathes. It is not within perfect circumstances or a charmed life… it is not conditional. Peace is a sacred space within, it is the temple of our internal landscape. We are free to visit it, whenever we seek sanctuary. Underneath the chaos of everyday living, peace is patiently awaiting our discovery… go within.”

About Singing

Barbara McAfee’s book, Full Voice, has been an uplifting, entertaining, and informative resource on more than the act of singing! Thank you, Barbara! To you, me, and everyone else, may we all sing our hearts open!

Barbara McAfee's avatarFull Voice -- Barbara McAfee

“I’m the world’s worst singer.  Can’t carry a tune in a bucket!”

“I used to sing. Then I stopped.  Went to school, got a job, had a family, got busy.  I sure miss it.”

“The only reason I go to church, confidentially, is for the singing!  Where else do people sing any more?”

As a visible singer in the world, I hear a LOT of stories about singing.
Some are tragic.
Some hilarious.
All touching.

Mostly I hear about why people don’t sing.
They’re waiting for a better time, the right teacher, or – heaven forbid – the perfect voice.

Here’s what I have to say about singing.
Want it to sound beautiful every single time you open your mouth?
It won’t happen.
Want to quit your day job, be “discovered,” get a recording contract, make a ton of money?
Don’t hold your breath, Sweetheart.

Music is not a commodity.

Gratitude Quotes # 2

“To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us – and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him.
Gratitude therefore takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference.”
