I am a Godsong

I recognize the Presence of God within me. Into this eternal Presence I direct these words.

I am a song. My voice is the melody. My words, the lyrics. My thoughts, feelings, beliefs and emotions come together to play chords. My heart beats the rhythm, keeping the time, the tempo, of my life.

Yet a song is more than the sum of its parts, and so am I. A song exists because of the Spirit of inspiration and creativity. A song is a form of self-expression, reflecting its creator. This is also true of me: I am a reflection of my Creator, God.

Limitations are illusions of the personal ego, just like a “bad” song. Every song, like every person, is perfect. God does not judge, only loves. For God is Love. And Love is Music.

In oneness with God, I love the song that I am. And as a co-creator with God, I compose my lifesong from Love. In turn, I love the song of my life.

God is Love; Love is Music, and I am a Godsong. For this realization I give thanks. I let it be so. And so it is!

The Voice of God

I’ve often wondered why it seems some people talk, or should I say ramble on and on and on…, just to hear the sound of their own voices. And as is always the case, the truth is simple: People love to hear their own voices, because they are the Voice of God!

A bold statement, perhaps. But ultimately true.

IF God is the only Power and Presence in the Universe,
IF God lives within each creation,
and IF, whether we’re conscious of it or not, God speaks through each of us,

then every voice is the Voice of God!

You can’t control what others do with their God-given voices. But your real, eternal purpose is clear: Use your voice as a vehicle of God’s Presence, a tool, a helper to expand yours and others’ awareness of Truth.

And because you are speaking from the God-Presence within you, you know that when you strip away personal opinions, judgements, likes and dislikes, each voice you hear, including the one you’re blessed with, is the Voice of God made manifest.

There are many shapes, forms, incarnations and sounds, but one Presence within all of them! “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1, World English Bible, WEB)

In order for the Word to be made flesh (John 1:14), there must be creation. There must appear to be separation, differences, various voices, and opposing sounds and forces. But these are limited perceptions.

Realizing our Higher, Christ Mind, we affirm: “…we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.” (1 Corinthians 2:13)

For this realization we give thanks, and freely speak from our Christ Mind. As Children of God, we let it be so.

And so it is!

Tune In!

I realize this song isn’t very meditative. 🙂 But it can remind us to connect to our true, inner nature through meditation. And with its upbeat tempo, it can help us snap out of negativity. And how do you think I know this…?

Tune In! – Lyrics

Instrument: Concert Flea ukulele

Refrain:
Tune in, tune up
To the Spirit in your heart.
Listen in, listen up
So you play the perfect part.
May the notes that bring you harmony
In body, mind and soul
Be the music of the Spirit
That is yours, and yours alone!

1. Composers of all music
Create the best they can.
‘Cause different tastes and instruments
Are in the higher plan!
So
Refrain:

2. The spark of inspiration
Flows through us all, by far.
When we connect we all reflect
God’s image that we are!
We gotta
Refrain:

3. ‘Cause if we were all the same,
the world would be a lifeless place!
Beloved in God’s eyes,
He made us all unique by grace!

We tune in, tune up
To the Spirit in our hearts.
Listen in, listen up
So we play the perfect part.
Then the notes that bring our harmony
In body, mind and soul
Are the music of the Spirit
That is ours, ours, and ours alone!

This Life Path

The cherry tree stood tall and proud
And scattered blossoms far and wide
Until a whirling, swirling storm
Upset the tree upon its side.

The cherry tree was hard and old.
Its life was long and strength was true.
But this was just a chapter’s end;
The tree would have another use.

A spruce fell in that hurricane;
Its softer heart was taken fast.
But turning yet another page,
The spruce continued on its path.

The spruce and cherry met one day,
Both dried and sanded, cut and shaped.
The spruce was top, the cherry back:
An instrument they came to make!

So little do we know and see
Where we are meant to go…
But deep inside there shines a Spark,
The All there Is, that knows!

No one can choose a path for you
Or hand down what is right.
For like the trees you ebb and flow
With God as guiding Light.

Within you always, Pure and True,
If you will only knock
And open up your weary mind:
Its Center is the Rock.

Without the Within

If you had a home you were happy with,
Would you put it up for sale?

If you enjoyed your job,
Would you be seeking other employment?

If you were happy with your gender,
Would you change it?

If your thoughts were pleasant,
Would you change your mind?

If you loved your partner,
Would you find a different one?

Living in discontent,
We seek something better.

In the shallowness of the world,
We look for things to fulfill us…

And living in a quick fix state,
In truth there are no fixes…

Evolution, change is natural!
Life ebbs and flows as it should.

But if you were peaceful within,
Would you seek peace “somewhere, out there?”

Turn within to Gladness,
And never go without!

Father Made Flesh

The Father creates
To see Himself
Made flesh.

The Father loves,
Because He knows His Children
Are His own.

To love and know His Children
Is to love and know Himself,
Reflected in each of them.

May every father
Of every child
Love and know himself!

Because as a Child of God,
Every man is known and loved
by the Father of All!

And may every child born
See God the Father
Made flesh!
–And so it is!

The Parenthood of God, Prayer Treatment

I recognize that God is the only true parent. I know that as a child of God, I am always perfectly parented, unconditionally loved, and always guided. I am about my Father’s business, here to express and manifest His glory.

I give up my personal ego and its limitations so that God’s purpose is fulfilled through me. In Truth I am perfect, even as my Father in Heaven is perfect.

This is so because God is my parent, my source, and I am His child. I am created in God’s image and likeness. I am loved, sustained, and counseled by God, the ultimate and only parent of my being–heart, soul, mind, and body.

I am parented, and parent my children, by the Power and Presence of the Father-Mother God that lives within me always. I look within for love, knowing, and answers, and, still aware of the Presence, demonstrate it in the world.

By the Power of God within me, it is so.

Thank You God!

Amen.

Feet Sure Program

aka Bless’d Feet

They stand for us through every day;
We take but little heed–
Unless they hurt, and then we moan,
Because they are in need!

They keep us upright, grounded firm,
Supporting all we do.
It’s time we gave some credit back,
Where it is truly due.

The God of all created them
That we may feel the earth
And know a strong connection to
This planet of our birth.

They root and keep us stabelized,
The bones in harmony.
In gratitude we realize
The blessing of our feet!

And may we now take care of them,
Each muscle, bone and toe!
For in their strength we see the God
Who guides us as we go.

They stand each day in harmony
And keep the body firm.
For wondrous feet we give You thanks
And praise You as we learn!

Songwriting is hard!

Not true! But it got your attention, didn’t it?

Songwriting is as easy as eating ice cream. And no brain freeze! It doesn’t get much better than that! 😀

It’s learning someone else’s song that’s hard for me. And I don’t mean intellectually, or technically, or mentally. I mean, dare I say it, psychically and spiritually. To me, it’s like being in a box.

Why do I feel this way? Because if I write a song, it comes from within me. I don’t look outside myself for anything.

That doesn’t mean God doesn’t provide inspiration through other things. Be it nature, scripture, musical notes I heard somewhere, something someone said in passing, a timeless quote, or a feeling–yes, these inspiring things are part of many songs.

However, the song is its own. Really, it’s God’s, and it has its own purpose for being. I truly believe that, and I am blessed to be the vehicle, the vessel, that carries the song to others.

Intellectually, it’s my song. If anyone holds its copyright, I do. But I don’t think of it that way. It’s God’s song, and I get to share it. Thank You God!

But what about learning others’ songs? I love the music others share! In their own way, with their own kind of song, they’re doing the same thing I’m doing. But in order to learn their songs, I have to look way outside myself. I have to learn and emulate someone else.

Looking with-out is what metaphysicians go beyond. So for me, learning others’ songs is a form of ego gratification. And the ego always, always boxes us in!

I like others’ songs. But the reasons I want to learn them are much different from the reasons I write. If I learned songs, it would be:

* To display technical playing or vocal abilities

* To learn a technique to use in my own music

* To give people something familiar to listen to, thus making a connection with them that’s based on past experience

* Because I “couldn’t write one, so I just picked one”

These are not “bad” or “wrong” reasons! But they do come from the personal mind or ego. My human mind, which is finite and limited in its scope, came up with these reasons.

God-Mind’s reasons for me to share music, are something like these:

* To fulfill my soul’s purpose

* To impart universal truth

* To make a spiritual connection first

* To express uniqueness and individuality–because You are One with Me (God-Mind) and I wish to express through You

* To manifest and realize (bring into form and make part of my life/reality) more of God in the world

Can this be done using other people’s songs? Absolutely! Many musicians do it all the time. That’s why there are so many successful cover and tribute artists.

Can this be done by me using other people’s songs? No way! And it has nothing to do with the songs or songwriters! It’s because my purpose is to manifest God uniquely through me, not through anyone else or their creations.

You manifest God through you. John Lennon manifested God through him. And I manifest God through… You guessed it–me!

If any one of us did not exist, God would be a little less manifest. A little less visible. A little less expansive. Because unmanifest Spirit, is not “the Word made flesh.” It’s just “the Word.” It can do more! And the “more” it wants to do, the “more” God wants to do, is to be visible through each of us.

I choose to live and compose by these God-inspired reasons. I still listen to and appreciate others’ music! The world would be much less brilliant without all kinds of people making all kinds of music! However, I choose to play and share what God brings through me.

Other people’s music can enlighten in many ways. One way is to have more people learn and play it. And another is to serve as a light to another composer. If someone’s music does that for me, I’m grateful for that music, the composer, and above all to God, for orchestrating the whole thing! Because “I of myself do nothing. It is the Father within me that doeth these good works.” –Jesus Christ

We all, as songwriters and writers of our lives on Earth, are here to spread a Word. And may that Word be true, God-centered, and full of the Love that created it!

Spice of Life

Instrument: Concert Flea ukulele

Refrain:
1. We so often take them for granted,
The seasonings we like.
And even more forget the Source,
The reason for the spice.
Refrain:

2. The herbs bring a depth to our dishes,
Preserve, and help them shine.
And life is bland outside Your plan;
So I serve You with mine.
Refrain:

3. The spices You give are so many,
Some sweet, some hot, some sour.
And every one is Yours alone,
Existing in Your Power.
Refrain: (Twice)

You are the flavor in me.

Refrain:
You are the flavor in life,
More than salt, pepper, an herb, or spice.
For You’re the Creator of each of these things,
And You are the flavor in me.
