Hope Medley #Music #Mp3
This hopeful medley on zither contains
Hatikvah (The Hope)
and
Whispering Hope.
You can find their histories and lyrics at the links above. May this arrangement bring you hope!
“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
–Emily Dickinson
My Isolated Life #Poem
Before this mass isolation,
I was already isolated.
For more than a year,
I’ve talked to the same person,
Been to just one place for someone else’s appointments,
And really had only myself as good company.
Before social distancing,
I was already more distant than ever.
I’ve had no contact with friends, family, or even acquaintances.
Social media? Oh no,
I dare not get involved!
I am my only antisocial outlet.
Before economic difficulties,
I was already broke,
And I don’t just mean not having much money.
Rather, I had no resources, still don’t.
I work plenty, but I’m not allowed to earn.
And only I know how I feel, being well and truly trapped.
Before everyone stayed home,
I was already stuck,
Imprisoned by past choices.
I cannot leave
Without support, finances, work and a home.
I am a caged bird, singing to myself.
Before wide-spread depression,
I was already depressed.
Yes, I have regrets, guilt, if-only’s.
There’s so much I want to share, do, and be!
The up-side? When you tell me of your isolation,
You know I understand!
AWARE #Acrostic #Poem
Acknowledge the Power you hold in your hands.
Wonder how much you can share.
Awaken to Love that the Universe grants.
Realize compassion and care.
Expand! You’re becoming AWARE!
The Work of Marriage #Poem
Being married is work
with related hazards.
It may seem good at first,
until the tax time comes.
Then the cost could be high,
so high it could include
your own identity.
If it does, don’t pay it!
It’s too bad; not too late.
You can still keep living,
but in a different way.
Be married, do the work.
Pay your dues, but leave some
for yourself, your spirit,
your feelings, emotions,
mental stimulation,
desires, interests, needs.
Keep your friends, family,
activities, hobbies,
social groups, connections.
Do what you used to love,
because losing yourself
“in love” is not love.
Don’t give up everything:
Complete self-sacrifice
is not a noble cause!
Martyrdom is not yours;
victimhood is not you.
Be married. be happy!
But most of all, be you!
How Great Thou Art #Music #Mp3
Continuing to share nature themed hymns, here is “How Great Thou Art,” played on zither. The music is a traditional Swedish melody. An 1885 poem by Carl Boberg became the lyrics, originally written in Swedish and later translated into German and Russian. As well-known as the English translation has become, it wasn’t translated until 1925, with another translation in 1949.
I hope you enjoy my zither arrangement, and feel free to share it with others!

My Best Friend #Poem
My best friend is always near
Through life’s trials, turns and tears,
Helping calm the stress and fears.
My best friend is always near.
Speech or silence matter not,
Understanding never stops.
Right time, right place, on the spot.
Speech or silence matter not.
Love I seek and love I find,
Tender heart and open mind
In discernment ever kind.
Love I seek and love I find.
Any hour of night or day,
This one friend is here to stay
With a lamp to light my way
Any hour of night or day.
Deepest feelings, wishes, cares-
None too big or small to share
What support! Beyond compare!
Deepest feelings, wishes, cares.
Whether filled with pain or peace,
Faithful friendship doesn’t cease.
Learn to give as I receive,
Whether filled with pain or peace.
Who’s this friend so good to me?
Gentle, patient, spirit free?
Seek and find yours. Ask. Receive!
My best friend, in short, is Me!
