How do you know if you love someone?
And if your reasons are right or wrong?
How can you tell if you really belong?
By seeking the Truth in your heart.
How do you know if you do your best?
And if your answer will pass the test?
How can you tell if you’ve really been blessed?
By seeking the Truth in your heart.
How do you know if you’re torn and tired?
And if you’ve lost some deep desire?
How can you tell if you’re feeling inspired?
By seeking the Truth in your heart.
How do you know if you love someone?
And if you do, are you two? Or one?
How can you tell when the worry is gone?
By seeking the Truth in your heart.
How can you love and say, “Worry, be gone!”
By seeking the Truth in your heart!
I wrote this song in approximately 2002, for a couple I knew who met online. Dating in general can be difficult, but online dating has its own pitfalls. Add in distance, which was a big factor for Freddy and me, and, well, it really shows you what you’re made of!
Freddy and I met in a writing group, as I wrote in My Greatest Gift.
We were friends first and weren’t looking for a romantic relationship. As time, emails, and phone calls passed, we became close, and love became our reality. Though we didn’t use “online dating,” our writing and the internet were an integral part of how we met, fell in love, and recently got married.
I hope you enjoy this song, and that you are open to love, however it comes into your life!
Internet Love – Lyrics
1. I found you on the internet and took a chance.
Back then I had no clue that it would be romance.
I found you on the internet and took a chance.
Now here’s the way I feel.
Refrain:
2. I asked you many questions, and you answered me.
And I know your opinion on important things.
I asked you many questions, and you answered me.
Now here’s the way I feel.
Refrain:
3. And I hope that one day you and I will finally meet;
And hope that when we do, you’ll be the same to me.
I hope that one day you and I will finally meet.
Now here’s the way I feel.
Refrain:
I love you!
You’re a dear, sweet man.
Refrain:
I love you,
Even though some think it can’t be.
I love you,
And I’m hoping that you love me.
I love you,
And I’ll give you everything I can,
‘Cause I love you!
You’re a dear, sweet man.
I used to talk for hours on the phone;
Before that no, I barely spoke at all.
As changes changed my life, o how I’ve grown!
It took me to a kind of twilight zone,
His conversation anything but small.
I used to talk for hours on the phone.
I gave myself to others as a loan,
A borrowed blessing passing in the hall.
As changes changed my life, o how I’ve grown!
His spirit woke my every nerve and bone,
A voice within; I answered when he called.
I used to talk for hours on the phone.
Now I am not an island, but a stone
Creating waves of goodness as I fall.
As changes changed my life, o how I’ve grown!
One Life in everything, the truth be known;
His Light the highest nature of us all.
I used to talk for hours on the phone;
As changes changed my life, o how I’ve grown!
I didn’t know the meaning of forever,
Until you took me deep into your heart.
I could accept us being here together,
But thought for sure one day our ways would part.
Forever was a place I couldn’t go,
For in my mind I simply didn’t know.
I didn’t know the meaning of a love song,
Until you sang to me without the words.
I could accept the melody and music,
But disbelieved the voice my spirit heard.
A love song was a place I couldn’t go,
For in my mind I simply didn’t know.
I didn’t know the meaning of connection,
Until I drifted into it one day.
It took me from a world of imperfection
To all I asked, to seek, to find, to pray.
Connection was a place I couldn’t go,
Until my mind was calm enough to know.

Happy National/Global Poetry Writing Month (NaGloPoWriMo)! I won’t be posting every day, but any contribution is a good one.
A spike in the weather
Brought raindrops in floods.
We ventured together,
Outpacing the mud.
All dressed up
With somewhere to go,
Our wedding was imminent,
Come rain, sleet or snow.
So onward we ventured
With faces aglow:
Outshining the downpour,
A bless-ed rainbow!

My Quadrille in response to De’s “spike” prompt at dVerse.
Yes, there really was a rainbow on our wedding day, March 15, 2019! And the song we chose months ahead of time was “Somewhere over the Rainbow.” It was a blessed and beautiful day! ❤
Before we met, I sipped your words
Like lemonade in Summer bright;
Then savored them as chocolate hot,
Indulging every Winter night.
I drank you in; you filled my cup
With satisfying sweetest brew;
My dehydrated mind and soul
Fulfilled and nourished, sipping you.
A birthday blessing just for you,
God guide and keep you every day,
And may your hopes and dreams come true.
A birthday blessing just for you.
Your spirit shines forever through,
A lamp to brighten all your ways;
A birthday blessing just for you,
God guide and keep you every day.
Your laughter is a river flowing strong;
It rolls and rumbles, nourishing its path.
And in your voice I hear a living song;
As seasons come and go, the music lasts.
A mountain tall and firm, that is your faith.
Whatever trials on earth, you can’t be moved.
When lost in storms I cannot find my way,
Your rock of steady standing gets me through.
The Lord has given gifts to one and all,
But I can’t see the forest for the trees.
When brambles trip me up and then I fall,
You lift my spirit with a song to sing.
Eternal song of nature and His love,
I heard it when He sent you from above.
