Today has been a letdown,

But it’s over! Thank you, Lord!

I pray tomorrow’s better

And my patience will endure.

I pray that when the morning sunlight

Kisses grass and trees,

It sends your peace and hope and love

Shining down on me!

And when tomorrow’s ended

As the gentle night begins,

I pray, whatever happens,
Help me turn to you within!

Amen.

When We Rise #Poem

When we rise

Do we realize?

Or is it just a new normal?

When we become enlightened,

Does the Light dawn?

Or is it simply another day?

When our knowledge yields to Truth,

Do we really know?

Or do we take it for granted?

When belief turns to awareness,

Do we awaken?

Or are we intimidated by its power?

O let us awaken!

Let us know beyond thought!

And let the Light dawn

As we realize

When we rise!

Charles Wesley’s well-known hymn is based on an older Bohemian hymn, whose author is unknown. The version we know today was written by Wesley, co-founder of the Methodist movement, in 1739. The original Bohemian title was “Jesus Christ is Risen Today,” while Wesley’s title was “Hymn for Easter Day.” More recently, it’s most often known by its first line, “Christ the Lord is Risen Today.”

Where is the lamp that’s burning bright?
Where is the tunnel’s ending light?
Where is the comfort lifting fright?
Always deep inside!

Where is the Voice that’s speaking peace?
Where is the hope that brings relief?
Where’s the supply that meets my needs?
Always deep inside!

Where is the bird that sings in flight?
Where is the dawn that breaks the night?
Where is my purpose good and right?
Always deep inside!

Love is there when out of sight!
Peace and comfort, hope and Light!
Coming home, I need not fight
Always deep inside!
