Self-blessing

This is a self-blessing song, inspired by blessing and Chakra-cleansing rituals. Authors include Z Budapest, Diane Stein, and Dianne Sylvan. But while those are Goddess/woman-centered, this song is for everyone. It is my own interpretation and uses only the same body points as these rituals.

You could do this as a meditation any time, as a song, poem, or however it fits into your spiritual practice. It could be a weekly, monthly, New or Full Moon, or celebration ritual. It is most important to be mindful whenever and wherever you do any meditation – simply performing a ritual or routine practice doesn’t make you more aware in itself.

Wishing Well

Why is a Metaphysical minister writing a Goddess-centered song? Other than “Because I can!”

It’s because Metaphysics/mysticism and Goddess spirituality are not at odds with each other, if you have an open mind. In mystical Jewish and Christian traditions, the Shekina, Holy Spirit, or Holy Breath is considered feminine. She is Mother, Daughter, Sister, Beloved. She is one with the Father and Son, the Creator and the Offspring, not separate from either, but a part of everything!

A thought: Without a feminine aspect to bear, carry, and nurture, nothing would ever come to fruition!

Building and Building Up

Why does it always take longer to build something than to destroy it?

Why does it take so much more time to build up a relationship, a skill, a practice, a career, … than it does to tear one down?

Time is an illusion, and I’m preaching to the choir. If you’re reading this, you either already know that, or you’ve heard me say it before, or both! And it’s still true: Time is an illusion, and eternity is forever!

So, what’s that got to do with building, or building up anything?

Everything, actually!

In the Eternal Mind, Cosmic Consciousness is always aware of everything, all the time. Not so for the human mind that is temporarily in a state of unawareness. In the human mind, everything takes time. That is, days, months, decades – linear time as we know it is necessary for life and living.

In a way this is true, but it’s not the whole Truth. The mind and its personal ego, also an illusion by the way, fixates on an idea. It wants it “done yesterday,” but there are obstacles, barriers, or steps to take and things to learn or put into place first.

This is the Universe or God at work. We think we would be so happy if everything just fell into place naturally. But what we call “natural” is, you guessed it, another illusion! That is to say, Nature goes beyond thinking, feeling, and doing. Nature is Universal, and Universal Consciousness is God.

In building something, or building up to a result, God knows and has the full picture already. And not just the picture, but the thing accomplished! It’s already done, no question, no doubt in the Mind of God.

If this is true, then why do we experience time delays? (And don’t give me that illusion stuff again! I can’t take it anymore!)

Time delays are opportunities: Opportunities for the personal ego to get its act together, connect with Universal Mind, and move away so that we can realize what the Mind of God already knows.

The ego is always slow to respond. It has to be. It’s limited, un-knowing, and afraid. It thinks too much and spends more time trying to think itself into connection than truly tapping into the Universal Mind. But Universal Mind knows that and just keeps existing, beyond the personal ego.

And that is the good news. God Mind and all that It knows, is always available. The reason it doesn’t all come rushing into the human mind at once, is that honestly, we couldn’t handle that!

Have you ever seen an explosion, or implosion? It takes seconds! And it destroys everything… That’s just what would happen if God Mind rushed everything into the personal ego, like the breaking of a dam or the opening of flood gates. Our lives and identities as we know them, would be completely destroyed.

This is why it takes more time to build and build up, than to destroy. It’s a favor, a Grace, that God extends to us. And not just extends, but follows through. It’s not a linear progression:
Level 1: God
Level 2 (a little lower): Grace
Level 3 (lowest): Human realization

No, God exists within Itself, within the Grace, and within the human mind. If that doesn’t blow your mind, nothing will!

Now, it’s time to relax and enjoy. The Universe is at work, within every process, every setback, every lapse, every step forward and leap backward, God knows, and Eternity is at hand. The ego cannot understand this. In fact, it’s probably telling you “No!” right now. That’s ok. Only the Mind of God can realize Truth within and through each one of us.

But it is done in Eternity, and not human time and space boundaries. Through meditation we come to strip away the personal ego’s layers and limitations and move into the Universal, God Consciousness that is always available within us.

Through this realization, we can build and build up positive things in our lives, by the Power of God working through us.

May it be so for you,

A bit of a tongue-in-cheek piece, not for the faint of heart! And no offense meant to Tantra practitioners – I simply acknowledge that mainstream society has latched onto the sexual aspect and left out the essence of Truth.

Spirituality is a code word,
A junk drawer,
A catch-all for any practice
That doesn’t fit into accepted religion.

I recognize this,
I acknowledge what’s going on,
But I don’t have to like it
Or subscribe to it.

“I’m spiritual” =
I don’t go to church,
But maybe I do or don’t use ritual, or Magick,
Even if I don’t call it religious.

“I want a spiritual partner” =
Hey, let’s have some free love and Tantra!
It’s “in” and it’s fun!
Never mind that Tantra is a religion!

Spirituality is a code word
For some,
Even for many,
But not for me!

Spirituality,
The Spirit
And living within and through It,
Is Life itself!

Your decoder ring
Will arrive tomorrow.
But don’t wait up,
Because you won’t be needing it!

Time for Lettin’ Go

All earthly relationships end. Whether through death, divorce or breakup, a move or other situation, all relationships reach a point where they no longer exist as they did before. In effect, it’s the end of the world as we knew it. This change and letting go is often difficult. Here is a song to acknowledge that, and recognize that our only lasting relationship is with the Spirit of God within.

Are You Sick?: Healing Consciousness Revisited

Are You Sick?: Healing Consciousness,
it’s all about how our thoughts create our experience. The following insights come from experiencing mystical oneness, while the previous post was from a Unity or New Thought background only. For ease of reading, this is structured like a Q&A.

Q: Am I sick?

A: Ultimately, you are not sick. You are whole and well.

You are a creation, an expression of God. Made in the Universal image of Love, your Highest Self (God Self) cannot be sick. Recognizing sickness is a product of the personal ego, the human mind that tries to create your life. This is the mind that “thinks” and therefore acts, like it is separate from God.

In reality, there is no separation from God. God is all things, and is within all things. This includes you, a beloved, unique creation. You are God in expression, manifestation, or “the Word made flesh.” You are a miniature version of the Universe, but a whole Universe nonetheless, a microcosm of the macrocosm.

This is why consciousness, or awareness, is the only thing that can truly be healed. When your consciousness is healed, made whole and reminded of its oneness with God, the experience of sickness loses focus. It doesn’t matter anymore; all you know is the Love that you are. Any healing that takes place is because the God-Mind awareness is working through you.

Q: Do I create my life?

A: Again, no. God-Presence creates and sustains every life.

The personal ego is an amazing thing. It believes, as in many New Thought traditions, that “Thinking makes it so.” In fact, this was the premise of my previous post. It is a story, and one that many people identify and resonate with. However, it is not the whole story. In truth, I’m not giving you the whole story here, either! God reveals Truth to us, only as far as the soul is ready.

God-Presence, at the center of your being, is what creates your life. Your experience of this life, however, is often dominated by your thoughts, beliefs, feelings, emotions, conscious and subconscious memories, and many levels deeper than the everyday waking human mind.

In addition, the law of cause and effect, or karma, is at work, keeping Universal harmony and balance in your life, and all lives. This means you may not realize the consequences of your vibration, made up of your thoughts, actions, beliefs, and so on. But God, First Cause and Knower of all things, creates and maintains balance in your life.

When this means receiving payback for something, that’s what we get. We usually see this as negative, and sickness falls into this category. However, it’s important to remember that sickness is only an effect, that it can be responded to positively and spiritually, and that it can be sublimated. I.e. you can move on from it.

Q: So how do I get rid of this sickness?

A: By seeking first…

Because physical illness is so obvious to us, we tend to focus on it. It’s all we think about, learn about, talk about, and it affects every aspect of our lives. We need to exercise Spirit’s compassion when coping with our own or anyone else’s sickness. Ultimately, it is not real, lasting, or permanent, in an eternal, infinite, mystical sense. However, it seems real right now, and all we want to do is get it over with.

The only way to move beyond anything, is to leave the state of consciousness where it exists. And the only way to change your mind, is to change your Mind! That is, the closer your personal connection to God-within, your own spiritual Source as you relate to it, the closer you are to an experience of Love, oneness, and health.

You may need to take physical actions to restore health. But only the God-Presence within you, can tell you what those actions are and when to take them.

How do you become healthy? Know the God, or Kingdom of Heaven, within yourself, first. And as the Christ Mind in Jesus said, “All these things shall be added unto you.” But only after you seek within!

Q: Where do my thoughts fit in?

A: Thoughts are things; thoughts are tools.

Your thoughts, feelings, emotions and beliefs are often what impact your experience. They can make or break your perceptions of your life. But if God is Creator, what role do your thoughts play?

Your thoughts are tools. You can leave them undirected, letting the limited human mind run wild with them. But if you’re reading this, you probably realize that doesn’t serve you very well.

Remember that personal connection to God-within? The closer you are, the more open you are to God-Mind guiding, directing, and “thinking” through you.

Here’s the difference: The personal ego thinks it does things for you. God-Mind works through you, for the highest good of all.

The more you meditate, the more your thoughts, feelings, and experiences reflect God-Mind. More accurately, the more you seek God, the more you realize that God flows through you.

This is not God finding you, or you finding God. This kind of seeking, is discovering what is already within you. Remember that you are not separate from God, no matter what your experiences tell you. God-Mind is, was, and always will be present at your center, even long before and after this physical lifetime.

Q: Is this an intellectual exercise?

A: No! Mysticism in its purest form, is not about someone trying to explain mysticism to you. Mysticism is your ultimate oneness with All that Is.

You cannot understand this with your mind alone. The mind that earned your grades, does your job, tells you how to drive, remembers songs – this is not the tool to understand mysticism. And it is not the ultimate tool in restoring health. Only God-Mind can restore and maintain health.

To know God, to be healthy, successful, fulfilled, is only accomplished through the God-Mind, Cosmic Consciousness, Universal Lifeforce working through the vehicles of your soul, heart, mind, and body.

Your personal ego will not like this. Because it cannot do, or fix this, or make it happen.

Know God within you first. By this you realize Truth, Life, and health in its time.

In its time? Yes, only in its time. Any sickness may be a tool, a karmic effect, for your soul to learn from or resolve. But again, you yourself, by human power, cannot learn your lessons or resolve anything. Resolving any and all karma takes the Power of God alone.

And for this you need what? To seek within and find what has always been there.

Q: Do I have to do this alone?,/h2>

A: No!

Not only are we all connected, but we can offer each other support and encouragement. Healers, coaches, ministers, and practitioners do not heal or cure. All we do is all that anyone does: Hold a supportive – in this case spiritually-based – space in service to Cosmic Consciousness or God. Its purpose is to direct you inward to the God-Presence in you, that is in each of us.

Given This Day

We can’t really give anything to God. After all, God is infinite, so to say we can give Him/It anything, limits our perception of God.

However, what we can give up, mystically, is the idea of the personal ego, human mind, and the so-called free will we think it has. Free will is an illusion. Only Cosmic, Universal Consciousness (or God) is real. All other things, including the personal ego and our false ideas, pass away.

This song is about expanding our own consciousness, awareness, and focus by giving up the personal ego. In order to truly know God-reality and be aware of it, we must do this daily, and sometimes moment by moment, many times a day! By surrendering our soul, heart, and mind to God Consciousness, we experience oneness – not intellectually, mentally, emotionally, or physically – but throughout our entire being.

Oneness is our true, spiritual nature. And giving up that which is “less than,” is accomplished primarily through meditation. This song is another reminder and a tool for that purpose.

Vain Repetitions

Wow! Isn’t it amazing that we get caught up in all this drama? The break-ups, the angry kids, the “and I want this, this, this and this,” the job, co-workers, spouse or significant other, the car, the house, the bills we think we need to pay by our own power, the helplessness, hopelessness, fear, depression?

All of it is drama! And none of it has to exist!

Think about that. Not with your head, for Heaven’s sake! With your heart, beyond intellectual, mental thought. Ponder it in your heart. And listen to what your heart says: Listen well!

Drama does not have to be our way of life.

Life can be moderate, which does not mean joyless, unexciting, boring! It means even-keeled, steady-paced, going with the natural ebb and flow of things. Not putting all our eggs in one basket, not putting all our hope in one relationship, one source of income, one picture of how life must appear on the outside.

And we can do this! We can do this, when we give more power to the inner picture, than to the outer. Yes, the outer picture is a reflection of what’s happening inside, within the heart, mind and soul. In spite of this, and because of it, we must change the inner landscape first, if we expect the outer one to really change.

Otherwise, when we remarry, get our next paycheck, start the new school year, open one more credit card account, take one more anxiety pill, read this book and attend that seminar, we’ll repeat the same old pattern! Over and over, again and again!

Why? Because the inside hasn’t changed! It hasn’t risen above the problem-creating consciousness, or state of mind.

Do the inner work, for Heaven’s sake! And I do mean for Heaven’s sake! If a good life–that is, truly good, in order, fulfilling, and abundant, prosperous and joyful–if that is what you want, do the work! Because that is the kingdom of Heaven, that is “Thy will be done in Earth as it is in Heaven!”

So, do the inner work! Allow it to be done by God working through you, so that it can be expressed, made visible, tangible, and manifest in your life.

Because drama is not the only way. And life is so much more than what we see on the outside!

We can be in this world, experiencing what it has to offer, including the drama. But we don’t have to identify with it. Jesus said, “They are not of the world even as I am not of the world.” (John 17:16 World English Bible) By experiencing this other-worldliness – i.e. oneness with God, in meditation, we discover this Truth for ourselves. Without this Truth, we’re practicing vain repetitions, until the soul and mind become aware of the God-Presence at their center, and improve outwardly from this inner oneness.

May it be so for you; for this realization we give thanks!
And so it is!

So It Goes

Today Christian traditions celebrate Palm Sunday. So you may wonder why this song is about time and based on Ecclesiastes 3. In short, it’s because Jesus experienced good times and bad times, just like the rest of us. What’s more, his personal ego didn’t like the bad ones – but he didn’t let that overpower him.

Matthew 26:39* reads: He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

Please enjoy the beauty and joy of Palm Sunday, when crowds welcomed Jesus. As Holy Week unfolds, may your contemplations center around the Presence and Will of God in all things. No matter what we’re experiencing, we are never separate from God. He knows the purpose for our lives and is there through and in everything.
