God bless us!
This does not sound like a Christmas song. Even people surrounded by family and others can feel most isolated at this time of year. And if my prayer list is any indication, people want to feel some glimmer of hope and blessings, now more than ever! That’s why this isn’t a Christmas song, and why most of my holiday songs are more generic–because it’s not only on a holiday that we long to experience something higher than our human thoughts and circumstances! This longing is universal, and Higher Consciousness is, too! And so, may blessings be upon you, now and always!
Numbers 6:24-26 (NKJV)
βThe Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.β
Blessings Be upon You – Lyrics
Instrument: Tempo – Seagull Excursion Folk Acoustic Guitar
1. When times are dark and dreary
And you feel worn and weary,
I ask that blessings be upon you.
Refrain:
2. When every wish you’ve wanted
Is like a haunting hunter,
I ask that blessings be upon you.
Refrain:
3. When careless words are working
To keep you hard and hurting,
I ask that blessings be upon you.
Refrain: (Twice)
May the Lord give you peace!
Refrain:
The Lord bless you and keep you
And shine His face upon you.
The Lord be gracious unto you
And give you peace.
The Lord give you peace!

1. Ever wonder why you hum?
It’s to keep from feeling glum!
You sit a while and find a smile
To meet whatever comes.
When the music starts to play,
You open to the day,
Shed worry in a hurry,
Knowing everything’s OK.
Refrain:
“But it’s only music!” folks reply
When I say it’s love and light.
Just let it touch you when you’re down
Or help you right a wrong,
And you’ll know the power of a song;
You’ll know the power of a song.
2. When it sounds a little sad,
Music gathers up the bad.
It matches you and catches you,
And lifts you till you’re glad.
If your heart is feeling cold,
That song’s worth more than gold.
It warms you up and fills your cup
With comfort for the soul.
Refrain:
3. If you don’t know who you are,
There’s a song that does, by far.
Let it shake you up and wake you up
And lead you to the stars.
‘Cause that brilliant spark and shine
Is the One and All-divine
Who rings in you and sings in you
A special song of life!
“‘Cause it’s not just music!” I reply,
And I say it’s love and light.
Just let it touch you when you’re down
Or help you right a wrong,
And you’ll know the power of a song;
You have the power of a song!
The theme song for my ministry, practice, and website – Mystical Strings! The idea has been brewing since December, 2014, revisited along the way for snatches of music and lyrics. It has been so worth the wait for this song, which I like very much. But then, would I write a song I didn’t like? Probably not. π

1. Babies learn to walk,
And we encourage their strides.
As they sing and talk,
We overflow with delight.
While people are growing,
It goes ebbing away.
What’s the harm in showing
That we love them today?
Refrain:
2. Spirit put us right here,
Setting our time and place.
We can make it bright here
When we mirror Its face.
For we are the blessing
And the vessel of love.
Spirit is our essence;
Every person is One.
Refrain:
Oh! I want to see you shine!
I want to hear you sing!
Nurture with love and find
All of your mystical strings,
All of my mystical strings,
All of our mystical strings,
Because we are the mystical strings!
Refrain:
I want to see you shine!
I want to hear you sing!
Nurture with love and find
All of your mystical strings,
All of your mystical strings!
Blue is my favorite color,
Though I really can’t say why.
I’ve never seen the ocean,
The flowers or the sky,
The hue of sweetest berries,
Or my child’s sparkling eyes.
But blue’s my favorite color,
And maybe I know why:
The peace of its vibration,
The healing it provides,
The grace so all-embracing,
A deeper touch than sight.
O blue’s my favorite color,
A blessing of the Light!
—
Like Bryan’s “Awaken us to the Blue,”
this poem didn’t come immediately. I do love blue and always have. But no, I’ve never seen it. So, that got me wondering how I can say it’s my favorite color. Here you go,
written for dVerse Poetics.
Lessons, reading,
Learning, eating!
Feeding body, mind and soul
With the work I love to hold,
Only then to give away
The things that fill each joyous day
To someone needing comfort, care–
In weaving, writing,
Circles, squares!

I always enjoy Walt’s prompts over at dVerse,
and this one is no exception. We’re asked to write of either drought or deluge. I’ve experienced both on many levels, and each takes a different art of balancing! This current deluge is a positive one. π
Smiles spilling all around,
Saturating driest ground,
Calming down with softest light
Every fiery word that bites;
Laying in a bed of peace
Where Hope blooms with gentle ease.
And in the morning glow of Dawn,
We look and find new smiles have grown!
—
Another for dVerse,
with thanks to Grace for her inspiration!
