The Key

Because the essence of Music, Love, and God is The One.

In any key of music
the first note of the scale
is 1.

In any key of music
the last note of the scale
is 1.

A perfect octave
is the distance
from 1 to the next 1.

Same pitch, same name
just higher or lower
and still the 1.

That’s why it’s called perfect
the 1 is the beginning
and the end.

In any key of music
the real key is
oneness.

The true key is
wholeness
completeness.

The 1 returns to itself
alpha and omega
beginning and end.

In any key of music
the 1
is first and last,

root and octave,
1 and 8,
in the image of God.

And the key
is oneness
in his Presence.

The Spirit of Truth

The Spirit of Truth lives within me, as a Light that will not be put out. I can cover it with blankets, tar, bushels, but nothing, nothing will truly turn out the Light!

That is the miracle, the Good News, the Glad Tidings! That no matter what I allow myself to get wrapped up in, Spirit awaits me, just inside! Where all is quiet, where all is known, where Love conquers all, Spirit waits.

All I need to do is knock. But so often I waste my time standing at the door, wondering if Spirit will really answer! I don’t believe it, so I don’t knock. But this is futility at its finest!

Spirit, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, always answers! I wonder what the answer will be, still standing on the doorstep, stamping my feet with cold, my heart full of dread. Because what if it’s not what I want? What if the answer is not what I think it should be?

I know deep down that it’s still the answer, and that whatever I think I want, is only from my limited perspective. But limitation, can only see limitation! So again I am in awe of the miracle, the Grace, the Love that somehow, some way, I can return to Spirit!

Even when my mind is in distress, even when fear dictates my words and actions, even when I see no way out, there is a part of me that knows!

There is a part of me that cares, loves, waits for me to ask, seek, knock, so it can throw open the gates of Consciousness to my weary mind!

And lead it back, restored, renewed, in tune with the voice of the Spirit of Truth that is sure and eternal.

Behold, the Star!

Shining bright,
A point of Light
That shimmers through the darkness deep
Guides the way
To perfect Day –
To dawn from slumber, wake from sleep!

And by far
The bless’d Star
That pierces through the gloom so dim
Fills the Soul
To know it’s whole,
Because the Christ is born within!

Radiate
Through every state
Of mind that comes to human thought;
May the Light
Remain in sight,
Reminding us what God has brought!

The Gift of Love,
Not just above,
But here for every precious Child;
Given birth
Through us on Earth
To spread the heav’nly Light that smiles.

A star so bright,
A holy night,
A song for e’er and ever sung!
For in our hearts
We’re all a part
Of God who lives within His own!

Shining bright,
A point of Light
That shimmers through the darkness deep
Guides the way
To perfect Day –
To dawn from slumber, wake from sleep!

“Happy Holidays!”

Have all your “Happy holidays”
The whole rest of the year!
For Christmas spread the Truth of God
TO people far and near!

Columbus Day and Halloween,
St. Valentine’s and more,
Labor Day, Thanksgiving,
And the U.S. has its Fourth!

But at this special time of year,
We celebrate the Christ
That’s born within each one of us,
The “naughty” and the “nice!”

It’s not about the Santa Claus
To those of us who know,
And not about the Jesus Child
Who came so long ago…

The special birth at Christmastime
Is given in each mind.
The Holy Spirit moves in Love
To lift up human kind.

It doesn’t happen in a church,
A temple or a scholl.
The Christ is lit and shines within
The very heart of you!

Now, you may call him Jesus
And celebrate his birth.
But only with a Christed mind
Can there be peace on Earth!

So may it be to every one
Who’s ready to receive:
A very merry Christmas
And a heart that can believe.

Have all your “Happy holidays”
The whole rest of the year!
For Christmas spread the Truth of God
TO people far and near!

I am Love

This song is many things and has grown into more since I wrote it in December, 2010. It was part of my Advent celebration that year, based on
The Twelve Powers of Man by Charles Fillmore.

It’s also a reminder to be mindful of who and what we say we are.

“I am ___”

What we put in that blank is more powerful than we realize, and is a clue to our true self-image. If the words are positive, build them up. However, if “I am” is followed by negativity, we have the opportunity to choose something better and more truthful.

Still repeating a negative pattern? See
I’m so Tired: How to Feel Better Fast.

I added things to this song – compassion, forgiveness, trust, because they are qualities the human spirit needs in order to make a difference in the material world.

In any case, it is not, and wasn’t when I wrote it, an intellectual exercise. Rather, I share this song in a spirit of love, harmony with God-Mind, and blessing to everyone.

Simple Blessing – Music and Poem

This is an original instrumental, played on the harp. As you listen, I invite you to contemplate these words, or your own thoughts and feelings about giving thanks and counting blessings.

Simple Blessing

Blessings come in many forms,
Much more than what we see.
And blessings best are counted as
The God in you and me.

We’re given Life, and not just breath
Upon this spinning ball…
But onward, upward all the time,
To God the Source of all.

In having what we need we take
A moment to be glad.
But lacking something, would we still
Give thanks for all we had?

For what is there if not the things
We see as good in life,
The money, job, the home and friends,
Success, and being right?

There’s still a Spirit deep within
That shines from all we are!
If nothing else, give thanks for this,
For it’s our Source, by far!

We think we have security
From all these earthly things.
But they are tools that Heaven rules,
Just servants of the King.

And so take time to give Him thanks,
This day and every one,
For all we are and all we have,
Is ours in God the One.

Blessings come in many forms,
Much more than what we see.
And blessings best are counted as
The God in you and me.

10 Ways to Turn Mistakes into Blessings

Mistakes are wrong, failures, sins, error, useless… Right? Not if we do even one of these 10 things, and this is not a complete list! Do just one of these today, and turn what you thought was a mistake into a blessing.

1. Learn from it. What did it teach you?

2. Use it to connect with someone else. “I’ve been there too,” and compassionately lead them onward and upward.

3. See it as a step. Where are you off to next?

4. Find the gift. What do you realize you have now, that you didn’t see before?

5. Expand your awareness. Narrow-mindedness creates judgements, of both ourselves and other people. How can you be more aware from now on?

6. See the good. Even in the midst of that mistake, there was something good. What was it?

7. Allow more. Consciously or subconsciously, we let mistakes into our lives, along with the belief that they are mistakes. What will you allow today? Something better?

8. Make a pact. Often, mistakes come from the need to fix things, or reach outside ourselves for what we need. Connect with the God-Presence within you, and ask it, “What do I need?”

9. Keep your own council. I’ve written on this before. Let that God-Presence, the part of you that already, always knows what you need, answer the question for itself. It will be the right answer, better than anything you could come up with on your own.

10. Let it go! A good way to make more mistakes is to harp on those we’ve already made! So let them go, give them to the God-within. The pain, sting of failure, embarrassment and loss will stop controlling your outlook. In turn you’ll be able to see and know, that the Universe intends good for you.

Mistakes are only one way we can find our good! They are not the only way, and they are not always negative to a fault. Turn one around for yourself today, and create a blessing!

Bless’d be!

Shalom! Baruch Haba!

This is a Hebrew song with 3 vocal parts and keyboard accompaniment. I wrote it during my first college education as I call it, before ministerial school. I’ve always enjoyed languages, whether I understood them or not, and a friend from Israel gave me the opportunity to learn Hebrew. Which I did, enough for conversation and blessings like this one. 🙂

Shalom in this case, means peace.

Baruch haba means welcome.

Keep repeating these 2 phrases and you know the whole song. It sounds more like a lullaby than a welcome song, but I still like it after 9 years, so there must be something to it. 🙂

Instrument: 76-key Casio keyboard (unknown model)

Blessing Prayer – Prayer of Jabez

And they said to him, The LORD shall surely bless you and enlarge your territory, and his hand shall be with you and shall deliver you from evil, that it may not have power over you, and he shall grant you that which you request of him.”
1 Chronicles 4:10 (Lamsa Bible)

Blessing Prayer – Lyrics

Instrument: Yamaha NP31 76-key digital piano

Oh, that you would bless my soul
And may my reach be great by your command!
Oh, that I may always go
Upon the path that’s guided by your hand!

Oh that you deliver me from evil,
That it’s power over me is past!
Oh that I may know you in my mind and soul,
That you grant the things I ask,
Oh that you grant the things I ask!

He Created Them

Male and female
Female and male
God is there
In each one
Abundantly
He created them!

Female and male
Male and female
Never separate, for we are all one
One God, One Creation
He created them!

Wife and husband
Husband and wife
We call them married
We separate the married from the unmarried
In Truth all are one
He created them!

Husband and wife
Wife and husband
Unfolding in a relationship
Where both express fully
And grow as the mighty oak, in Love
He created them!

Man and woman
Woman and man
Together from the beginning
Not by legal bond, perceived obligation, or circumstance:
But by His creation,
He created them!

God and Life
Love and Spirit
All names for The One
Just like male and female
Are names for God in form
He created them!

Male and female
Female and male
Expressing God-Life
Different pieces
Of one mosaic
He created them!
