The Sound of 2015

Personally, this hasn’t been the greatest year I’ve experienced. Not by a long shot… My beloved brother-in-law, Kenny, passed away after a short but very intense struggle with cancer. Because we were so close and I helped care for him and the household, it was a difficult time.

But: Spiritually this year has been nothing short of wonderful! In spite of personal circumstances, every week brought a new song! There are
50 Sunday Songtime offerings,
because I started in the 3rd week of 2015. Did I always feel like writing songs? No, and if I had to do it on human strength, energy, and power – let’s just say the project, and my spirit, would have fallen flat!

But this was not a project of will or personal choice. Every song came from Spirit. Each one is a divine expression of God as I was able to perceive and express at the time. Looking back over these weeks, I realize now more than ever, that these songs were meant to lift my spirit, to draw me closer to God-within, even as they are also meant for others.

I could not have written them without daily meditation! Without inner connection, songwriting results in, well, turn on the radio, and you’ll get an earful! Spiritual, mystical songwriting can only result from a spiritual, mystical relationship with God within our own mind. I.e. becoming Christ-minded so that we can proclaim, “The father and I are one,” and “I am about my father’s business,” as Jesus did.

Having shared the personal side of Sunday Songtime, here are some of my favorites:

God Bless this Human Mess

So Pass the Cheer!

Be Lifted Up

All Because of Love

Train of Thought

Can’t Take it with You when You Go
(started just before my Nana’s passing last December)

Give Thanks Within

Time for Lettin Go

Within Dependent

Faith of Christ

Bring the Light

Cookie Song
(I haven’t made Christmas cookies since childhood, but was pressed into service this year! And that was long after the song! A premonition I didn’t recognize at the time.)

Is that all? No! Though I haven’t finished the doctoral research and dissertation I wanted to finish this year, I’ve had the opportunity to become more intuitive, more spontaneous, and more joyful and playful musically. No doubt this has, and will continue to spread into other areas of life – and may it be so! Other songs written this year, some for future release, are:

Eternal Love, a wedding/union song based on 1 Corinthians 13

Piece of Paper, a future album track

Never Just a Kiss, also a future album track

Singing Sweet, from the mp3 album
Mother Nature Sings

Happy Birth Day,
a joyful breakthrough for me personally

Dreamkeeper,
co-written with ~Morgan~ of BookNVolume

Smilemaker,
written in memory of my brother-in-law

There have been some poems and articles as well, mostly health-related. I’m grateful for those; however, music has been at the forefront this year, including the October/Mabon release of
Mother Nature Sings!

One of my
International Metaphysical Ministry
ordination vows is “not to let personal suffering show forth to the public that could affect your work with them.” By the Power of God, I kept this vow, and only by His Infinite love and grace!

I give thanks for the opportunities God has given and created through me, and know that whatever 2016 holds will be for the Highest Good of every one of us! And mystically speaking, it is already done!

May God’s Presence bless you and your loved ones, now and always! And may you recognize these blessings and give thanks to their Creator–and yours!

Divination

This last song of 2015 is a reminder that regardless of others’ opinions or what any divination tool “predicts,” your own answers come from the God Presence within you. There is One Presence, One Power, One Spirit that speaks through many voices! But the still, small voice within is the gentle, guiding Light of the soul.

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

1. To angels, saints and holy ones,
We tell the things we wish were done.
From psychics, readers, seers galore,
We ask for answers, help, and more.

Refrain 1:
We hold these tales in heart and mind,
When Truth is all we seek to find.
We look to small, conditioned things,
When God alone fulfillment brings.

2. We read the book and take the class,
But self-help never seems to last.
We go to therapy and spend
Our time and energy to mend.
Refrain 1:

3. We want our friends to keep us strong
And kids to pass our values on.
We think romance will fill our soul,
That home and job will make us whole.
Refrain 1:

4. O seek the God within your heart,
The You that’s real, the knowing part.
Let living water quench your thirst;
Let go of every fear and hurt.

Refrain 2:
Release these tales of heart and mind;
The truth you seek is here inside,
Beyond the small, conditioned things,
Where God alone fulfillment brings.

All Because of Love – Advent Week 3

In Metaphysics/Mysticism Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ within each of us. It is an inner experience that, whether quickly or slowly to our perception, creates lasting outer changes. We use daily meditation as a tool for becoming more conscious of Christ-within.

In short, we celebrate the inner meaning of the outer Christmas story. We can still enjoy Christmas carols and other traditions! Because underlying each one is the joyful birth of our own Christ Mind awareness.

I illustrate this, and Christ as Love, with this song and scripture.

John 1:1-17 (KJV)

Bold added for Emphasis

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

All Because of Love – Lyrics

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

1. The greatest commandment is love, love,
Given to us from above, above.
Love your God over earth, earth,
And everyone as yourself, yourself.
Love everyone as yourself.
Refrain:

2. In the beginning was Christ, Christ,
The father’s Word of Light, Light.
We were made in his Grace, Grace,
So let it shine in your face, your face.
O let it shine in your face.
Refrain:

3. Ever simple and true, true,
Christ alive within you, you.
Glory made manifest, manifest,
In us the Word was made flesh, made flesh.
In us the Word was made flesh.
Refrain:

love, it’s all because of love.

Refrain:
Because the world was made in love
By Christ and father God
To start and end as one.
It’s all because of love, love.
It’s all because of love.

Peace of Christ – Advent Week 2

Instrument: Tempo – Seagull Excursion Folk Acoustic Guitar

1. Peace is a song deep inside,
Taking the world by surprise.
You cannot understand
By the thinking of man,
For we sing the peace of Christ.

2. Order and harmony abide,
Even as changes come to light.
For the peace at its core
Is the heart of the score,
And we sing the Word of Life.

3. O let it ring out so clear,
Even if no one seems to hear.
Let your spirit rejoice;
Lift your hands and your voice,
For the Word is ever near.

Repeat 1.

For we sing the peace of Christ.
We sing the peace of Christ.

Faith of Christ – Advent Week 1

Advent, the preparation time before the spiritual celebration of Christmas, is about getting ready for the Christ Child. In the Old and New Testament, as well as The Aquarian Gospel, Christ’s coming was foretold. Those who were aware knew He was coming. It wasn’t a total shock; not everyone heard the news with disbelief.

Similarly, anyone with mystical awareness throughout the ages, knows that Christ is coming. However, like the Spirit, It can be celebrated and experienced any time, in any moment, not just in the Advent/Christmas Season! Mystically, Christ Mind, Consciousness, or Awareness is re-born within us whenever, wherever, and however we surrender our earthly ego identity enough to “notice”!

So, my Advent songs focus on the birth of Christ Mind within each of us and can be used at any time of year to bring ourselves to a higher state of Mind. Jesus was a Christ, not the only Christ – not the only blessed, anointed mind!

Faith of Christ – Lyrics

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

1. When you need a healing
And have no idea how you’re gonna get it,
Let the Christ anoint your mind
By giving God the glory and the credit.
And your thoughts won’t understand
The story that you tell.
But by the One that looks beyond,
Your faith has made you well.
Refrain:

2. When you think you need a change
Of people, things or places where you’re livin’,
Lift your mind to seek and find
The Heaven in the Spirit you’ve been given.
And your thoughts won’t understand
That good already is.
But there’s a spark of Light inside
To help you see the bliss.
Refrain:

3. When your expectations need to
Step on back and take a breath of air,
Look up! because in every tiny detail,
God is working there.
And your thoughts won’t understand
The words I say to you.
But listen with your Spirit,
And you’ll realize the truth.
Refrain: (Twice)

Refrain:
Because through Christ in you,
Good Will is always done.
In God you live and move;
Forever you are One.

Give Thanks Within

A mystical Thanksgiving (thanks-giving) song, reminding us that no matter whom, or for what, we give thanks, ultimately we give thanks to the God-Presence within ourselves – and all things.

Other Insights

Thankfulness in Mystical Reality by Dr. Paul Leon Masters
Founder of International Metaphysical Ministry (my ordination organization)

And so, Jesus gives thanks. He gives thanks for basic, simple, and sometimes apparently inadequate resources, not out of fear and insecurity, but out of knowing who He is, having confidence in relationship with the Father. He does not give thanks with the attitude of, “Well, I’d better be grateful for the little bit I have here or God might take even that away.” He does not give thanks in the sense of, “I’ll make myself give thanks because that’s what we’re supposed to do regardless of the circumstances.” He does not even give thanks as some kind of magical formula that will manipulate the situation into a better outcome, saying, “If I give thanks for this small piece of bread the right way, then something miraculous will have to happen and I can get out of this mess.”

No, Jesus gives thanks from an essential understanding of who He is, and because He wants others to know Him, too. In turn, we can give thanks because we know who He is and who we are in relationship with Him.
–Dr. April Westbrook

The full article, while written from the perspective of Jesus the person being the life-giver, is still applicable to the Christ Mind that one experiences in mystical awareness.

May we give thanks as Christ did, knowing who we are in relationship with the Father!

Give Thanks Within – Lyrics

The refrain is
another Triolet;
the verses are
Quatrains.

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

Refrain:
Give thanks within, and outward call;
The Presence of the Lord is here.
So greet the Only in the All.
Give thanks within, and outward call.
Through every earthly rise and fall,
In thought and word and deed, be clear.
Give thanks within, and outward call;
The Presence of the Lord is here.

1. Give thanks to those you love and know,
Who let the gentle Spirit flow.
For God is in each precious face,
Imparting to you peace and grace.
Refrain:

2. Give thanks for all upon the earth
That meets the needs you’ve have from birth.
For every demand supplied
Is made and formed by God inside.
Refrain:

3. Give thanks in any circumstance,
As God is leading in the dance.
For orchestrated in His Mind,
Each step is in eternal time.
Refrain:

He Slumbers Not

He slumbers not, aye, though I sleep,
The God who does my soul inspire.
Awake to peace and order keep,
He slumbers not, aye, though I sleep.
When in the darkest hour I weep,
He breathes upon the inner fire.
He slumbers not, aye, though I sleep,
The God who does my soul inspire.

Mass Consciousness, Elections, and World Events

Mass consciousness elects leaders who are like unto itself. That is, the collective vibration of society elects its leaders. And those leaders, in turn, support the collective vibration.

If that mass vibration is one of fear, as it is in western society, then fearful, negative events often take place. This does not mean that individuals and groups cannot have positive experiences. By the Grace of Universal Presence or God, the Light still shines through. It is up to our own awareness to notice, contact, and expand that Light.

Our world leaders, communities, friends, family members, and other people cannot do this for us. Becoming aware of Universal Presence – the Infinite within, beyond, and in spite of the finite – is something each soul must do individually. We can help others, and others can remind us, of the Greater Presence within us. This reminder may be conscious or unconscious, but ultimately, each soul is on a path and must take that path until it is aware of its divine existence.

Elections take the pulse, the vibrational frequency, of a country. If we want more positive, Spirit-guided leaders, we must become more positive and Spirit-guided ourselves. And we must, by example and encouragement, in peace and in love, demonstrate the Spirit to those we encounter. That does not only refer to people we know and have physical contact with on this earth plane, but to every soul that has ever lived a physical existence. Why? Because through Universal God Mind, we are all connected. By becoming aware of that Power within us, we throw off the personal ego identity of our homeland, nationality, race, sexual orientation, religion, personal lifestyle, and the myriad of other things that human egos fight about. When the finite falls away from our focus, we experience the Infinite, the Eternal within and around us – indeed, within and around all things, all people, and all circumstances.

One may understand this philosophically or intellectually. This is better than no understanding at all. However, only mystical awareness, brought about by the Spirit within, can dissolve the walls the personal ego erects, supposedly in our human defense. Ultimately, there is nothing to defend, for in everything is the Infinite. All manifestations – people, lands, events – will pass away when their purpose has been served. Only the Infinite is lasting; all else is temporary.

It is important, therefore, to cultivate and maintain a relationship with the Infinite. We can and must respond to outer circumstances. But the best result, the Highest Good, is obtained when the Infinite directs our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions.

It is not good spiritual practice to pray as a last resort. Prayer and meditation are central to our existence, not because the practices themselves speak to God or God speaks through them, but they are essential because they are ways to have a relationship with God-Presence. Society does not teach or value this relationship. Society is finite – it, too, will have an end – therefore, it can only teach what is temporary. The Infinite, in contrast, can teach all things. The purpose of prayer, meditation, and any spiritual practice, is to open ourselves to the Infinite which is already “present and accounted for.”

In this way, we can pause, reflect, and respond positively when difficulties arise in our lives and around the world. When we have an established relationship with Spirit, Universal Consciousness, or God, that Presence directs our course. If we wait until bad times hit to meditate or pray, all we feel is fear, a sense of pushing, rushing, or urgency, and anything but peace.

Begin your conscious, intentional relationship with the Infinite today, and maintain it each and every day. It may not seem like a sound political, business, or progressive decision. But without the Infinite, the finite cannot progress – or even exist – at all.

May the Light that is your essence be revealed to your heart, soul, and mind in ways that warm and expand all areas of your life!
–And so it is!
