Live Like a Leaf – Spiritual Seasons Song

Instrument: Lady – tenor Flea ukulele

1. Turn to the breeze in Springtime
And catch the blessing rain
Rejoyce in all the new life
In every sharing vein you offer
Be a rustling Spirit for that is why you came
To live like a leaf and be the change.

Refrain:
Rest in Winter’s darkness, knowing peace within
Feel renewed in Springtime, this is all there is
Grow all through the Summer, changing as you give
Ride the wind in Automn as like a leaf, you live

2. Support the growth of Summer
Share water, air and light
You are a natural vessel
So be a part of life’s abundance
Be a rustling Spirit for that is why you came
To live like a leaf and be the change.
Refrain:

3. In Automn show your colors
Each one a lovely ray
Be flexible and fall
As nights grow long and days grow shorter
Be a rustling Spirit for that is why you came
To live like a leaf and be the change.
Refrain:

4. In Winter you return
Within the dark of Earth
But do not be afraid
The wheel is turning, next is birth and
Be a rustling Spirit for that is why you came
To live like a leaf and be the change.
Refrain:

Ride the wind in Automn as like a leaf, you live.

Allow – The Blessing Song

Sometimes we don’t feel very blessed… So we have a choice: DO we wallow in the un-blessed feeling – and thereby create more crap? Or do we pick ourselves up, even if it’s just a little at a time, and get to where we actually do feel blessed?

I’ll allow you to choose! 😀 But as for me, I’m choosing to get to blessed, to feel what I know to be universally true already. Because universal truth is only practical when we can and choose to apply it.

This is a live recording from May 20, 2012, at Unity of Reading. The album version has uke, a bass line, vocals and hand percussion! A great song to put you in a place where you feel blessed and so, allow more to come to you!

Allow – Lyrics

Instrument: Lady – tenor Flea ukulele

1. Blessed am I in the silence
Blessed am I in a crowd
Blessed am I in every way
As blessed as I allow!

2. Loved am I in the silence
Loved am I in a crowd
Loved am I in every way
As loved as I allow!

3. Great am I in the silence
Great am I in a crowd
Great am I in every way
As great as I allow!

4. I receive in the silence
I receive in a crowd
I receive my greatest good
As much as I allow!

Why Ukulele?: Giving Things Value

“Things only have the value that we give them.” –Moliere (1622-1673)

Take my ukulele, for instance. I have a strong affinity for the instrument, to put it mildly. I believe things about the uke that proud parents believe about their kids:

* My uke is cute.
* She… is a She.
* Every uke has its own spirit, personality, likes, etc.
* The ukulele is a smile… in sound.

Before I get too carried away with my personal sentiments about the greatest little instrument in the universe, let me tell you, there is another side to this coin, or so “they” say:

* Some ukes sound better than others.
* Some are easier to care for than others.
* Some ukes are imperfect, poorly made, and don’t last long.
* Some ukuleles are weird…

Are any of these things true? The positive things are, for me. But again, why? Because I believe them. I give the ukulele value because of my beliefs about it. My beliefs cause the feelings and responses I have about a ukulele or anything else.

This applies to everyone, and everything in life. Why do parents love their children? Because we have a belief that we must, that it’s natural, that they need us. But if we didn’t have those beliefs, well, our relationships with our kids might appear much different than they are now. Would that be a bad thing? There’s no telling, but it would be different.

Going further, how many times have you said, “I can’t do that because…” The good news is, you’re right! And the bad news is… you’re right! If you believe you can’t do something, you certainly won’t do it – you can’t, until you believe you can. By believing you can’t, you give that limitation value. Take the value away by changing your belief and giving value to the accomplishment instead, and chances are great that you can do all things – even “that” one.

What do you love? Money, another person, security, hobbies, work, food, pets, flowers, cars? The single reason you love something is because you give it value.

And now to the question I often ask: Does that serve you? If giving money value, that is, loving it, feels good and furthers your life, then it serves you. But if it makes you feel obligated, stuck, limited, or fearful of what may or may not happen either now or in the future, it no longer serves you. Maybe this value did in the past, but it doesn’t anymore.

So as always, you have a choice. DO you wallow in guilt and discomfort, still assigning value? Or do you lovingly release it, taking away its value for you and joyfully moving forward?

It’s all up to you. “Things only have the value that we give them.” And we, means you!

Why ukulele? Because I said so, that’s why! :d

Phoenix Rising – Meditation Poem

Instrument: Lady – tenor Flea ukulele

From the ash She arises
And to it She returns
Appearing, disappearing, re-appearing.

Yet there is no birth
No death
No rebirth.

The Phoenix lives always
Just in different forms
And so do we.

Neither created
Nor destroyed
Only transformed!

From the ash we arise
And to it we return
Appearing, disappearing, re-appearing
In form, perhaps,
But in Spirit, we exist always.

Faith – Spiritual Song

This song has a
companion talk.

Recording Updated 2015
Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

(A)
1. Faith is believing in things you don’t see… yet!
Faith is a knowing with calm certainty.
And all you need is the size of a mustard seed of
Faith… to move mountains in life.
2. Faith is the feeling that all needs are met… now!
Faith is the giving of something you get.
Because there’s always enough when you just say yes to
Faith… and remove fear and doubt.

(B)
1. Because you know you’re provided for,
Even if you don’t understand how.
And you know that there is a Source
That loves and keeps you now and always.

(A)
3. Faith is expecting that all things are done… well!
Faith is accepting the gift of each one,
And the confidence that you deserve life abundant.
Faith… the assurance of peace.

(B)
2. Because you know you’re provided for,
Even if you don’t understand how.
And you know that God is the Source
That loves and keeps you now and always.

Repeat (A) 1.

Faith… to remove fear and doubt.
Faith… the assurance of peace.
Faith! Faith! Faith!

Prosperity Song

In Metaphysical Science, Unity, Religious Science and New Thought, we “pray for” what we want, as if we already have it.

This practice of affirmative prayer – affirming, confirming and already having – is called spiritual mind treatment, scientific prayer and positive prayer. No matter what you call it, the prayer method is similar throughout the paths listed above.

In a future post I’ll describe the steps of affirmative prayer. For now, realize that the following prosperity song includes all of them.

I offer you this as a prayer, a meditation, and something to focus on. Ponder this until you believe it is so. Only when you believe you are prosperous, will you appear prosperous in the world – with more than enough money, happiness, time and love to be fulfilled.

Whatever you do, affirm prosperity, rather than begging for money! Sometimes it isn’t really money you need. And even when money is needed, begging for it attracts… more feelings of lack and having to beg.

And if you believe somewhere within yourself that having money is not spiritual, that poverty is a virtue, then meditate on removing that belief first. Would Spirit, God, Universe, Life itself create you to be poor?

No! Because if You are poor, then Life is poor too. And poor things – beings that lack something – cannot survive. Life does not create itself, to sabotage and destroy itself. Therefore, you must be prosperous: Prosperity is your divine right!

If this is the only thing you realize from my sharing here, it will change your entire consciousness, and through it, your entire life experience.

Prosperity – Lyrics

Instrument: Soprano Flea ukulele

1. I know your omnipresence
Transforms all seeming lack.
My Spirit is of plenty,
And plenty I attract.

2. Prosperity and blessings
Are flowing clear and free.
The Spirit of abundance
Fulfills my every need.

3. I speak the word of wisdom,
And now the law receives
And manifests directly
My great prosperity.

4. I thank your omnipresence,
Transforming every lack.
My spirit is of plenty,
And plenty I attract.

We are One – Connection Song

Since I’m now the official unofficial music director at my spiritual center :), I was asked to find music to fit a talk about connection.

I scoured my rather extensive music collection, and it wasn’t that I couldn’t find a song… I just couldn’t find one that fit my sense of the message, and one I knew everyone would be able to sing.

So I wrote one.

On this particular Sunday, other members and I also went to a local Pride festival. I went last year and enjoyed it immensely! All these people walking around, some gay, lesbian, bi, and transgendered… And some people were wondering who was who. Well, I didn’t care. Physical blindness has its advantages, and this is one of them!

This song is as much for LGBT people as it is for everyone “else”. So many times we focus on our differences, when we’d get along a lot better if we just remembered…

We are One – Lyrics

Instrument: Lady – Tenor Flea ukulele

Refrain:
We are one
Embracing whole
Infinite spirit
And universal soul

1. We all laugh
And cry
We live
And die
In faith
We smile
Knowing all the while
Refrain:

2. Changing war
Into peace
Being joy
Cleansing grief
In love
We move
Knowing this is true
Refrain:

3. The rainbow
Is life
Each color
So bright
We let live
And smile
Knowing all the while
Refrain: (twice)

LEARN: Life Expanding and Revealing Notions

When we think we “have to” learn something, we think too much about it.

Needing to learn something implies lack. If nothing else, we believe we lack knowledge. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be seeking it – we’d know we already have it. And we don’t like lack. We resist lack by default. But by virtue of the Law of Attraction, that lack persists.

Why does lack persist? Because like attracts like, and therefore, what we resist, persists. It must. If we feel resistance to lack, and like attracts like, then we attract more… More resistance to lack. And more lack of knowledge.

Now we’re consciously aware of what’s going on here. And we can create new beliefs about learning.

First, what is learning? My own definition is simply this: Learning means gathering conscious awareness.

And these are the true characteristics of learning:

* Abundance: Embracing the knowledge that is already everywhere.

Knowledge may appear to come from books, other people, etc. But the universal truth is that all knowledge, like everything else, is within each of us already. We’re just consciously tapping into it now. These things and people that seem to be “the source” of some knowledge, are just tools to bring us the conscious awareness of our knowledge.

* Joy: Feeling the excitement of new awareness.

For many of us, learning is a struggle. (Why do you think I’m writing this? :D) However, struggle is how we perceive it, and this can be changed, like all perceptions. When we believe learning – the gathering awareness of knowledge – is joyful, we experience that joy.

* Expansive: Broadening the personal mind.

Q: Does learning mean cramming, studying, pouring over something, trying desperately to remember things, feeling bored with constant repetition… Only to forget it all at some point and need to go back and learn it all over again?

A: Only if we want learning to be this way!

If you’re ready to knock out these beliefs for good, and I do mean forever and for good beliefs, decide for yourself that from now on, learning is different for you.

Now, learning is an opportunity to fill your personal mind with more of the universal, spiritual, or God-mind. It’s not just knowledge or experience you’re gathering when you learn. It’s an energetic connection to more expansion.

Once again, like attracts like. When you intend to expand your mind, while feeling joyful and abundant, you attract more expansion, joy and abundance!

And this, blessed be, is why we learn! What a
life
expanding
and
revealing
notion!

Just imagine
How you can feel inspired.
Just imagine
The greatest you can be.
What you ask for,
In faith, you now receive.

What I can do in life.
I imagine
How I can feel inspired.

Boomerang

I wrote this song for the first annual Purposeful Acts of Kindness Week in my community. In conjunction with
Earth Rhythms Drums & Percussion,
The Reading Eagle, local radio and television stations, and other organizations and individuals, Unity of Reading, Center for Spiritual Growth and Positive Living chose the week of May 13-19, 2012 to focus on at least one daily “random” (but on purpose) act of kindness. The week was a success, raising awareness of the importance of kindness and encouraging people to both give and receive kindness easily and gratefully.

This song has evolved, before and since this performance, but the lyrics and mp3 below are from the Mother’s Day performance at Unity. 🙂

Boomerang – Lyrics

Instrument: Lady – Tenor Flea ukulele

Refrain:
Be ye kind
Lighten the mind
Of someone else
And bring good feelings to yourself!
Be ye kind
And you will find
Your kindness comes back to you!

1. And if you wonder if it helps
Try kindness and see!
You make a difference in every way
Believe, believe!
Refrain:

2. Just give a smile or open a door
It doesn’t have to cost, but means much more!
With every kindness you are blessed
You release pain and stress!
And like the shining of a star
Your kindness reaches far! So

Refrain 2:
Be ye kind
Lighten the mind
Of someone else
And bring good feelings to yourself!
Be ye kind
And you will find
Your kindness comes back
It always comes back
Multiplied To you!
