Opening (Butterfly Song)

When I started these lyrics in 2011, they contained the verses of
Remember (The LOA Song).
There they stayed, and I often use that song in concerts and workshops based on the Law of Attraction.

The verses heard here were written in 2012, and the third verse and music just this week. Even a song goes on a journey! So how much more do we! May your journey be one of constant opening!

Opening – Lyrics

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

1. Your experience now
Was created before.
Your thinking and feeling
Have only brought more.
A new understanding
Can even the score
And let in the life
You deserve and adore!
So
Refrain:

2. By changing the inside,
Improve what you get.
Enjoy what you have,
And let go of the rest.
The Universe carries you
Every step,
Supplying your needs.
So have faith! You are blessed!
And
Refrain:

3. Your thinking and feeling
Are not all there is.
A Power much higher
Inspires your bliss.
In every detail
You believe is amiss,
Hear Love softly calling you
Deeper than this!
And
Refrain:

So sweet,
Like the butterfly you find release.

Refrain:
Reach within yourself and feel the opening, contented,
The broken wing, now mended.
Soar in harmony and peace!
As deep within yourself you feel the lightening, astounding,
The brightening, surrounding,
And like the butterfly you find release.

How you Play the Game

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

1. I don’t know who said it;
If you do, please tell me so.
Now here’s a bit of truth, just the same.
Through all our daily living,
As we come and go,
It’s not whether you win or lose
But how you play the game.
Refrain:

2. How amazing is it
That the little bit we think
Determines all the choices that we make!
Keep a tally, good or bad,
But here’s the missing link.
It’s not whether you win or lose
But how you play the game.
Refrain:

3. Every day you’re working,
See the Light in you,
And kindle it to spark a bigger flame.
Pass it on to people
By being kind and true.
It’s not whether you win or lose
But how you play the game.
Refrain: (Twice)

Refrain:
[So] play the game with love as your currency
And peace as the company you keep.
Move with your mind on eternity,
And don’t forget to rest before you sleep,
Put everything to rest before you sleep.

Moral Compass

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

Refrain:
What does it mean to be good?
What does it mean to do what you should?
How do you know what’s right?
What does it mean to go far?
What does it mean to be who you are?
How do you see the Light?

1. Society can’t help you ’cause it’s broken.
It answers with a question leaving doubt.
And loving one another is a token
Of words we just can’t seem to carry out.
So
Refrain:

2. We’ve got to learn to look beyond the faces
Of those who preach the practice of the truth.
The teacher’s in the most unlikely places-
It shimmers in the soul that lives in you!
So ask it
Refrain:

How can I be the Light?
What does it mean to be good?

Spirit of Music

I loved her even before I saw her, heard her, held her in my arms. Sure, it was because I met one like her, an older, more imposing, different one, just similar enough to help me name what I was looking for.

Yet I had to wait. Money was one problem; time was another. I didn’t have the right amount of either. But she waited, too, and I saved. When at last money and time came together, I called her, sight unseen, sound unheard.

When that one special, rightly chosen ukulele came into my open hands, my open heart responded. She is Brio, meaning spirit, enthusiasm, animation, dynamism (I like that!), verve. And with that Spirit, we create beautiful music together.

Love is the Lifeforce
Demanding seasons align
Waiting turns to bliss

Today Toni tends the pub at
dVerse,
presenting the task of composing a romantic haibun. There are 2 things I consciously hesitate to do here… 1) I try not to write much Japanese poetry like haiku or haibun, because I feel mine always fall short. 2) Romance? Uh, no. But I could not in good conscience totally blow off the prompt, especially not after reading the other poets’ beautiful contributions! And so, with trembling fingers I offer up the closest thing to romance I can muster. I hope it’s not too cheesy. 😮

And have a listen to Brio,
’cause the music flows freely around here!

Feel like Hell

A song of heaven and hell mystically understood.

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

1. Oh I have been to heaven,
And I have been to hell.
And in both places
I participated well!
So
Refrain:

2. Oh I have looked at goodness,
And I’ve lamented worse.
I’ve thought myself to blessings
And to a mental curse.
So
Refrain:

3. I’m more than what I think
And more than what I do.
I’m the Light of God-within!
So I just laugh and refuse
to
Refrain:

4. ‘Cause hell is just a feeling,
A state within the mind.
And heaven is another one
Where God and I combine.
So
Refrain:

No, I don’t have to take it!
Just as well,
No, I don’t have to make it!
I can see a churn and watch a burn that sets my mind on fire,
Or break away into the shade ’cause I am not required
To feel like hell!

Refrain:
feel like hell!
No, I don’t have to take it!
Just as well,
No, I don’t have to make it!
I can see a churn and watch a burn that sets my mind on fire,
Or break away into the shade ’cause I am not required
To feel like hell!

Offer up Your Trust

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

1. The artist paints a canvas
With colors of all kinds.
The light of inspiration
Iluminates her mind.
The Source of all creation
Is beating in her heart.
The paintings just get better
When Love directs the art.
So
Refrain:

2. The cook works like it’s playtime
To gather, mix, and fold.
And everyone he honors says
It’s beauty to behold.
He serves to nourish body
And touch the mind and soul.
Love shines within his cooking
As a gift to keep us whole.
So
Refrain:

3. Each lifetime is a picture,
A banquet table fine.
Activities a-plenty
We do and intertwine.
Each duty we are called to
Is a blessing so divine.
Through eyes of Love we come to see
The Spirit deep inside.
So
Refrain: (Twice)

Offer up your trust.

Refrain:
Let the Spirit open you,
Filling you with Love
Over and above.
And make your heart a token, too.
Give yourself with Love;
Offer up your trust.

Pink Flamingo

Many, if not all of us at one time or another, live in silent desperation. We feel we can’t tell others what is really going on, so we (try to) hide behind a smiling face, a sense of humor, evasive answers, or in this case, a pink flamingo. May this song be a reminder that we’re all in this together, and there is a Light of Truth behind our identities and expectations!

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

Refrain:
I hid my sins behind
A pink flamingo
So people think things go
The way I wish they would.
But when I take the time
To see the light inside me,
I know it gently guides me
To a place that’s real and good.

1. The paradise I got
Is not the paradise I wanted.
And the love I thought would last,
It slid right down the drain.
And I just couldn’t face the facts
Of the faces and opinions.
So I held it all inside me
And tried not to complain.
Refrain:

2. The picture that I see
Is not the picture that I wanted.
And the things I need to do,
It seems they never do get done.
And I just couldn’t face the facts
Of the faces and opinions.
So I tried to smooth it over
And paint a better one.
Refrain:

‘Cause that flamingo statue can fall over.
And all the stuff behind it can pour out.
My insecurities are like that cover.
God sends the tides and washes them all out.

So no more hiding sins behind
A pink flamingo
So people think things go
The way I wish they would.
‘Cause when I take the time
To see the light inside me,
It always gently guides me
To a place that’s real and good.

A place that God provides me
Where I understand His good.

Earth Blessing

A blessing song for our Mother Earth and her many inhabitants. May we live in harmony here, and with all beings everywhere!

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

Refrain:
Earth we know
Earth we love
As below
So above.
Earth we take
Earth we give
We awake
As one to live!

1. May compassion be our guide,
Seeing all that you provide.
May our knowledge come to show
Wisdom as we change and grow.
Refrain:

2. May we give to you our best,
Loving kindness, peace, and rest.
Harmony is One in All,
Shaping land and waterfall.
Refrain:

3. God above and on the earth
Lives through every death and birth.
Planet of the Spirit, too,
May we handle you with Truth!
Refrain:

Father in this World

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
–John 14:2,10 (KJV)

Being a human father is never easy! As a woman I can’t pretend to understand a father’s feelings, trials, circumstances, responsibilities – just to name a few. But I know we have a Father, the one who created us and did not just drop us here to fend for ourselves, but who makes his home within each of us. My prayer is that every father on earth will turn to the Heavenly Father within for strength, wisdom, understanding, peace, and above all, love.

Happy Father’s Day!

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

Refrain:
There are many, many, many, many
Bodies in this world.
And each one is the image of
The Father’s love unfurled.
We may not realize it
Through the mind’s unending swirl.
But the Father makes His home
In everybody in this world.

1. If it were not so,
How could we live?
Without love to show,
What would we give?
Refrain:

2. If it were not so,
Christ couldn’t be.
Without love to show,
There’d be no you or me.
But
Refrain:

3. If it were not so,
He’d have no house.
Without love to show,
No mansions to give out.
But
Refrain:

So remember you’re a home
For the Father in this world.

Know Me Well

Whether we seek to know God, a person, or His other creations, it’s all the same: We cannot truly know, unless and until we give up preconceived expectations, ideas, and judgments.

Instrument: Brio – Red Cedar Concert Ukulele

1. So you think you know me,
‘Cause you passed me on the road a time or two.
And you think you owe me
Your opinions and one version of the truth.

Refrain:
You try to tell my story,
But it is not yours to tell.
When you live without its trappings,
Then you can know me well.

2. So you think you love me,
‘Cause you believe I chose the perfect thing to do.
And you think you hold me
In a pretty little box filled with the proof.
Refrain:

3. So you think you see me,
‘Cause you recognize my body in this place.
And you think you need me
To look the same every time you see my face.

But I am writing you a story
That only you can tell.
When you live the truth inside you,
Then you shall know me well.

When you live the truth inside you,
Then you shall know me well.

You shall know me well.
