The Sound of 2015

Personally, this hasn’t been the greatest year I’ve experienced. Not by a long shot… My beloved brother-in-law, Kenny, passed away after a short but very intense struggle with cancer. Because we were so close and I helped care for him and the household, it was a difficult time.

But: Spiritually this year has been nothing short of wonderful! In spite of personal circumstances, every week brought a new song! There are
50 Sunday Songtime offerings,
because I started in the 3rd week of 2015. Did I always feel like writing songs? No, and if I had to do it on human strength, energy, and power – let’s just say the project, and my spirit, would have fallen flat!

But this was not a project of will or personal choice. Every song came from Spirit. Each one is a divine expression of God as I was able to perceive and express at the time. Looking back over these weeks, I realize now more than ever, that these songs were meant to lift my spirit, to draw me closer to God-within, even as they are also meant for others.

I could not have written them without daily meditation! Without inner connection, songwriting results in, well, turn on the radio, and you’ll get an earful! Spiritual, mystical songwriting can only result from a spiritual, mystical relationship with God within our own mind. I.e. becoming Christ-minded so that we can proclaim, “The father and I are one,” and “I am about my father’s business,” as Jesus did.

Having shared the personal side of Sunday Songtime, here are some of my favorites:

God Bless this Human Mess

So Pass the Cheer!

Be Lifted Up

All Because of Love

Train of Thought

Can’t Take it with You when You Go
(started just before my Nana’s passing last December)

Give Thanks Within

Time for Lettin Go

Within Dependent

Faith of Christ

Bring the Light

Cookie Song
(I haven’t made Christmas cookies since childhood, but was pressed into service this year! And that was long after the song! A premonition I didn’t recognize at the time.)

Is that all? No! Though I haven’t finished the doctoral research and dissertation I wanted to finish this year, I’ve had the opportunity to become more intuitive, more spontaneous, and more joyful and playful musically. No doubt this has, and will continue to spread into other areas of life – and may it be so! Other songs written this year, some for future release, are:

Eternal Love, a wedding/union song based on 1 Corinthians 13

Piece of Paper, a future album track

Never Just a Kiss, also a future album track

Singing Sweet, from the mp3 album
Mother Nature Sings

Happy Birth Day,
a joyful breakthrough for me personally

Dreamkeeper,
co-written with ~Morgan~ of BookNVolume

Smilemaker,
written in memory of my brother-in-law

There have been some poems and articles as well, mostly health-related. I’m grateful for those; however, music has been at the forefront this year, including the October/Mabon release of
Mother Nature Sings!

One of my
International Metaphysical Ministry
ordination vows is “not to let personal suffering show forth to the public that could affect your work with them.” By the Power of God, I kept this vow, and only by His Infinite love and grace!

I give thanks for the opportunities God has given and created through me, and know that whatever 2016 holds will be for the Highest Good of every one of us! And mystically speaking, it is already done!

May God’s Presence bless you and your loved ones, now and always! And may you recognize these blessings and give thanks to their Creator–and yours!

1. There is always something you can do,
A way to give encouragement
And share the best of you.
With a simple smile, saying,
“I am in this, too.”
O there is always something you can do.
Refrain:

2. There is always something you receive,
A fuller cup, a cheering up
By letting others see.
Your smile is a living thing,
So plant that tiny seed.
O there is always something you receive.
Refrain:

3. There is always something you can be,
A joyful spark to light the heart
Of everyone you meet.
Your smile tells the story
Of a Spirit that is free.
O there is always something you can be.
Refrain:

Refrain:
So Let your smile shine bright
With laughter, love and light
In all the colors of the stars,
Because your smile reaches far.
So let everybody see this
Blessing of the Spirit.
And no matter where life takes ya,
Be a smilemaker.

Soul Mates – A Mystical View

There’s no question that soul mates exist. We recognize them by the unexplainable, wordless connection we feel. It exists beyond thoughts, emotions, common interests, physical appearance, and circumstances. Yes, there are soul mates in this universe, perhaps many for each of us.

However, we may not have a personal love relationship with these soul mates. It’s false to only apply the idea of soul mate relationships to romance, marriage, or sexual attraction. Soul mates can be found on so many paths! To limit them to romantic partners is to lose God-given opportunities.

You could find a soul mate on a path of study, career, vocation or hobby, with a child, in friendship, even through a book or song – just to name a few possibilities. It could be someone you’ve met in person, or someone who shared something that struck a resonant chord within you. It could be someone from the past – there are no time or space limits on soul mates, because the Infinite knows no limits.

Soul mates are simply the Eternal, Universal, or God expressed as individuals we resonate with on a spiritual level. They are anywhere and everywhere, and in Ultimate Reality, they are already within us. It just takes “time” to become aware of their Presence, a gift of, and from, the Infinite itself.

May your soul mates be made known to you as you are ready to meet them spiritually!

The Truth About More

“Please, Sir, I want some more.”

These famous, or is it infamous?, words were spoken by Charles Dickens’ character, Oliver Twist. In this part of the novel, a small boy lives at school and wants more than the supper allowed by the Board.

An uproar ensues, and Oliver will either be hung, or sent off as an apprentice to anyone, of any caliber, who pays 5 pounds for him. The bottom line is that the school would rather be rid of the child than give him more food.

How great it is that our Master always offers more!

Many times we block it, unfortunately. But more is always offered to us by God the Father.

More love, more peace, more happiness, more fulfillment, more joy in carrying out our purpose… More of the best things in life! More is always available to us!

But we must do as Oliver did: We must ask for more!

The Father knows what we need, even before we ask. However, asking opens the universal floodgates fully, releasing a deluge of abundance that we could never imagine or orchestrate on our own!

And when we ask for more, it must be with the expectation, the belief, the knowing and feeling that indeed, more does exist already. And we can have it!

Not have it to hoard, worry over, save, or keep for a rainy day. But to steward, distribute, share, and enjoy. To expand it by adding our energy, and share the expansion with others.

Because, after all, there is always enough, yes, and infinitely more besides!

God did not create us to be poor! Poverty is not a virtue. On the contrary, prosperity is a virtue, especially when the best Master ever is given the credit.

God did not make us to be poor for him. He made us to be rich in all ways, aspects and areas of life!

We can have a consciousness, an attitude, and a mindset of poverty, lack, need, and finite resources. But whom does that serve? It serves only that mindset, making it even more real to us! This is a consciousness of “evil.”

So, what if we were to change our consciousness? Transmute it to abundance, riches, prosperity, possibility, and unlimited resources? Whom would that serve? God, that’s who!

The Universe is constantly changing, evolving and expanding. And who powers it all? God does! So, when we are rich, it is to more fully manifest God’s presence in the world. We serve a great Master who wants each of His creations to be and have more!

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
–Matthew 7:7-12 (NKJV)

Now are you ashamed to ask for more?

2. Good unfold…

Four Steps to Defragment Your Life

Within Dependent

Instrument: Tempo – Seagull Excursion Folk Acoustic Guitar

1. We can never freely be
Unless we freely let the others live.
We’re not given to receive
Until we let it all go and forgive.
And there is freedom from the limitations
Of this world we’re in.
It only comes in quiet Love
And seeing through the Mind of God within.
Refrain:

2. We can never make the rules
Or rule another person on their way.
We are just a pack of fools
Who put our foolishness out on display.
And there is freedom from the narrow bondage
Of this world we’re in.
It only comes in quiet Love
And seeing through the Eyes of God within.
Refrain:

3. We can never be ourselves
Unless we find the Self of Peace inside.
Our independence is a well,
Dependent on the only God of Life.
And there is freedom from the stormy waters
Of this world we’re in.
It only comes in quiet Love
And seeing through the Heart of God within.
Refrain:

Refrain:
Dependent on the One who made us all!
Within, dependent on the Answer to our call!

Remembering Nancy Abercrombie

A spiritually aware, bright, and talented musician, Nancy Abercrombie recently passed on from this world. She contributed positive, inspirational music to the world and to New Thought Metaphysics in particular. She has been, and will continue to be an inspiration to me personally. Though I never met Nancy in person, I’ve felt her soul through the music she wrote and recorded over her many years of study and service in the Metaphysical field. She will be missed, but lives on in the Love, Spirit and Soul of her music and every life touched by the Presence of God within her.

May God’s blessings and peace be upon all those mourning her passing, and may the Light of the eternal flame burn brightly on this, and every soul’s continuing journey!

Karma Is as Karma Does

Instrument: Eventide – Mahogany Concert Ukulele

1. At a party I will sit
And listen to the din.
With small talk of the status quo,
I’m not one to jump in.
And all this talk of differences
And who did what to whom,
I get the feeling I should go
And clean my mental room.
Refrain:

2. I bless the people chatting now
Who know not what they say.
They’re spreading negativity
When there’s a brighter way.
And all this talk of differences
And who did what to whom,
If I agree in thought or word,
I build the sense of gloom.
Refrain:

3. And even during quiet time
Or going off to sleep,
The thoughts and words we dwell upon
Are what the night will keep.
And that self-talk of differences
And who did what to whom
Is moving on to paint the dawn.
So let us change our tune.
Refrain:

Karma is as karma does;
In God we are aware.

Refrain:
‘Cause every thought is precious,
And every word gives life.
And how we choose to spend them
Brings harmony or strife.
May we be mindful of our thoughts
And speak our words with care.
‘Cause karma is as karma does;
O let us be aware.

Settled – Spiritual Song

Instrument: Eventide – Mahogany Concert Ukulele

1. Always lookin’ for some more
Or settling a score,
We dance around the issues of the past.
We don’t really let them go,
And for all we choose to know,
We cling to things that really couldn’t last.

2. All the people and the things
That bring us security
Only keep the peace of falsehood in our minds.
If we really had the best,
We would choose the Peace and Rest
When we seek in God, we never fail to find.

3. The foundation of a heart
Is the Spirit that is part
Of each thing we ever loved or thought we could.
And It never goes away,
Even when surroundings change.
So a life that’s settled here is truly good.

God never goes away,
Even when surroundings change.
So a life settled in Him is truly good.
